We were chosen last November. We were all wearing Disney shirts in the same color (red) but all the shirts were different. It was my husband's and boys' first trip, so we were all wearing First Trip buttons. We got to MK about an hour before rope drop, and we were just chatting with one of the CMs, happy to be there and excited since we hadn't even told the boys we were going until we were heading to the airport. I mentioned we were early because I was hoping to get a few pix by the castle without too many people in the background. After a few minutes of talking, the CM asked us to take a seat on a bench right by the entrance because she wanted to "see if she could arrange something special for us." She came back about 15 minutes later with the CM who runs the opening show and invited us into the park. They brought us a photopass photographer and took us on a tour of Main Street in one of the antique cars. We did a little photo shoot in front of the castle with the photopass photographer with no one else there, then they took us back up front to the train station for the opening show. They brought the dancers in to meet us and take pix with the photopass photog, then instructed us on what were supposed to do in the show (smile and wave, boys, smile and wave). I had one line in the microphone lol. Again the photopass photographer took lots of pix, my favorite being us waving with the cast while fireworks went off above us (swoon!) When it was over, they gave us fast passes for the ride of our choice and a fast pass for a meet and greet with Magician Mickey, plus a free 5x7 from that morning's pix and they added all the pix to our preordered photopass. Then we got one last ride in the antique car all the way up Main Street to the castle, with all the people now crowding Main Street waving and saying hi. It was so unbelievably magical that I was just in bliss for the rest of the day. The photo is still on our mantle.
Edited to add: my boys were 5 and 8 at the time.
