We are only a family of 5, but for us we love renting a house. The 3 bedroom(our minimum requirement) on property are IMO way too overpriced for what you get. You can get an amazing 6 bedroom houses all decked out in WDW decor with pool for 400-800 a night depending on what you are looking to spend. I recommend Windsor Hills, has a great resort feel and the resort pool has a great waterslide/ splash area for the little ones and only a 2 miles from the parks. I also recommend planning everything early as some of the popular meals/activities(BBB) book out way in advance.
With little ones you are going to want to go slow. We went at the same time as my brother who had 2 yr old twins and I had a 2, 6 and 8 yr old. We did a VIP tour(through a third party former disney employee) so we were in the parks before rope drop and he knew what to do when and was a great help especially with a bunch of little ones. My younger two were ready to leave the park midday and swim and never wanted to go back so for us planning activities first thing was key. We did Tomorrowland Terrace reserved fireworks party and that is key for watching the fireworks with small ones. No crowds to fight, just sit back, relax and eat yummy treats while enjoying the show.
I am a planner so writing out what we wanted to do and a generalized timeline helped me plan. As I got to make reservations I was able to narrow things down better. Good luck planning you will have a lot of fun.
Big family trip planning is tough but you should get plenty of help here. The resorts Board will be a good start to decide where to stay with a big crew.
