Family of 5 at Universal

MinnieTheisen, I was thinking if all the same choices I see now for December are available in June 2011 for about the same price, I may go with club level at Portofino. It is a larger room (and the sofa sleeper can be requested) and is club level. But then I guess I am outta luck if we don't get the sleeper. It is possible I can share a bed w/ the 2 younger ones or we might convince one of them to sleep on the floor. What were your reasons for choosing Hard Rock? That is the choice of my oldest (almost 12 year old son). I'm guessing the percentage of club level rooms at Portofino that have the sofa sleeper is a higher percentage than the larger rooms on Club level at HRH?

Madelyn - we chose HRH instead of Portofino because it was closer to both the parks and also for atmosphere. My girls are 13,10,and 7 and thought it would be memorable for them. From the looks of things there really doesn't seem to be a bad choice! I can't wait only 81 more days! :yay:

We are doing the same thing:goodvibes Feeding 3 kids, 2 of them teens makes club a good deal for us. I figure if the five of us can survive 10 days in a trundle room at POR we can certainly handle this. We can always stretch out in the club lounge if we need a bit more space:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Good logic! I can imagine with boys as well the amount of food they can eat! My girls don't eat tons but they get hungry often. Without going club I think the "I'm hungry's " would have killed me..

Yeah, I would like HRH due to proximity to parks but when I looked at PBH and the rooms were larger and cheaper I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay extra for HRH. Will have to see what is available when we want to go.

I will have two 17 year old boys who do nothing but eat constantly, two fifteen year old girls who graze all day and a 8 year old boy who eats in spurts. Club will be handy especially at USO since the hotels are so close to the parks. We never get club at WDW because you have to be at the hotel to use it and it is too much hassle to go back and forth...free dining is handy for that.:thumbsup2
