I read all the time that upon entrace to theship, they call you name ( welcome the smith family form ohio) or whatever. But since I'm traveling with a group is it possible that they could call, instead of each family name, something like "Welcome the Girl Scouts From Michigan!). Could i catch them before they call it and ask? or is it going too fast? I just think it would be cool for the girls.;)

When we entered the ship they asked us what name we would like announced. It was great since there were a couple different families, each wanting to be announced. I can't see why they wouldn't honor that request. The kids will sure get a kick out of it!!

P.S.- How many Thin Mints do you have to sell to take a Disney Cruise?? I'll have our cookie chair set a higher goal!!LOL;)

Have a blast!!

It does move pretty fast, but I'll bet ya they would still do it for you. When they ask your family name, simply say 'We are the girl scouts from Michigan' and that's what they'll say!!

I see no reason why they wouldn't. They didn't actually say our family name, but the first names of our kids, so obviously they're flexible...

'Beano'

I just had a funny thought - - having them announce our DIS names instead of our real names. Let's see, in your case it would be: "<I>BeanoC from</I> . . ."

On second thought . . . bad idea! :Pinkbounc

Taswira...I like your idea, I think I'll do that next cruise.

"The DISboards MJASP family from Long Island, NY"

We would be The Disney Family from California!! Think we could get upgraded into a suite that way? LOL I'll give it a try..

Thanks Taswira!!;)

We have cruised on DCL twice and neither time have we been announced. :(
I like the Dis idea though.

Disney Family...LOL That announcement and about $10,000 will get you your upgrade. LOL

I guess I wouldn't mind being announced by my DIS name, but <I>some</I> DISers have names that would turn a few heads! ;)

When we went on July 28th our names were not announced. Is this only on the 7 day?

Kathleen

They announce them on the 3, 4, and 7 day. But some people just rush on through. I've always been early, so near the front, and they announced everyone.

Girls Scout leader,

You are one brave woman to make that trip. Are your girls seniors? For those wondering how Scouts "afford" major trips (my troop is planning Europe in 2007 when they are Seniors) it is a LOT of cookies, LOOONNNNGGG range planning to save over the years, sometimes additional fundraising and sponsorships.

Have a GREAT time. When are you going? I've seen/heard about Florida troops going but nothing from MI before.

Now, if all the DISers on a particular cruise could get on at the same time; they could just announce, "The DISers have arrived!"
Hmmmmmm, I kind of like that one.

we were one of the first on board and they announced us (with the CMs doing a little applause thing)....
they did not announce where anyone was from, only their name (this was on the 3 day wonder cruise)....
when i passed by the boarding area later on i saw that they were still announcing and applauding....

Fran...Good idea. We'll have to try and plan that. By the way, 9 more months.

We just sailed on the 8/3/02 cruise and were about the third family in line. We had a party of 17 and they announced each individual family's name (three families). They were very agreeable to annouce whatever you wanted them to. Then it was a hoot trying to get all 17 of in the welcome aboard photo. The crew was laughing at us since it took us awhile to get situated.

Indeed they are very accomodating... they say so many names that they probably don't even hear themselves after a while, which can be a bad thing, when you consider what (almost) happened last year.

We sailed on 10/13/01. That's one month after the Trade Center attacks.
As you all know, things were still very intense...

As we boarded, the nice lady asks us our name. She found it hard to pronounce, so she asked our kid's first names, and welcomed us aboard that way.

Ok, so then the guy behind us decides to be a smart-ss and when she asks his family name, he says "bin laden". Not funny.

She just about started to announce something, then it registered and she must have turned 9 shades of white. As she stood there speechless, he laughed and said "just kidding, our name is..." I wanted to toss him overboard.

So obviously you can have them say (almost) anything you like. Just show some good taste, ok?? :)

Forget cookies. WE are from a small town, and selling a $3.00 box for 42 cents profit jsut doesn't cut it. WE do every fund raiser that you can think of. We have had other senior troops (yes, we jsut bridged to Seniors) go to England, Switzerland, etc. As a Service unit we have made numerous trips to Savannah, one to Boston& New York City, (last June-wished we would have paid more attention to the World Trade Center:( ) Pennsylvania, all over. Take time, planning, and WORK. (Brave?? Me?? My Girls are great, I have some terrific parents, and love wdw, so the rest is just good fortune) Thanks for the replys. I am going to try this. One more little tidbit from the boards to make this trip special for them.
