I would like to hear about the Family Magic Tour and what it is and what do you do. If anyone has done it, I would like to hear the reviews. Thanks!!!

We did it in July last year. It was great. It is a scavenger hunt throughout Magic Kingdom. I have heard of a couple different storylines. Ours was that Peter Pan stole Hook's best Hook and he was really mad. He would put a spell over the Magic Kingdom if he didn't get it back. You are given clues that the group has to find to find the hook along the way you have to act silly (so it's definitely for those with a sense of humor! ;) ).

I don't want to say anything more in case you don't want spoilers.

IF you DO want spoilers - here is the trip report I wrote about it

It's $25 pp. but we got 20% off with the Disney Visa. We did it this past Feb. and everyone in our party of 12 had a good time. We got lots of interaction with the characters. If you do read the trip report, I would recommend you keep it a secret from everyone else in your party, so they won't know what to expect. Tell them you are going on a behind the scenes tour. Also don't do it on you first or only day at MK. It takes up the whole morning, so by the time you get done it's pretty crowded. But definately worth it if you have an extra MK day. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks guys! I think I will do this tour, it sounds like a lot of fun especially for the little ones!!!!

Becky2005 - I booked the family magic tour for July as well. Just wondering - did you find it way too hot or was it ok since it's held in the morning???

Also - we have an ADR at CM at 8 a.m. before the tour. I know this is cutting it close but I didn't have a better day to book the tour. We've been to cm breakfast before and we've usuall been done in about an hour - hour and a half. In your opinions, do you think we will have enough time to go to CM and then make it to the tour by 9:45????

Can't wait for the family magic tour by the way - it sounds great!

I didn't think it was too hot but I wasn't reall bothered by the heat the entire vacation. They did provide us with ice cold bottled water (the kids insisted they each got one but I didn't have a backpack so was stuck carrying them...so by the time they would be able to drink them it was warm.) They did provide a quick bathroom/drink break though during the tour. I thought it was fine.

Your breakfast will be fine as long as you make it on time! ROFL!!! If you read my trip report you will see we were late to oh, just about every meal. I would think you should be OK with CM as long as you get seated right away, etc... especially since it's a buffet you can adjust your speed basically. If it normally takes you 1 1/2 hours, it will be close since you have to have time to get to the park (that gives you 15 minutes). The start of the tour area is close to the entrance though so it could be OK. We had Cinderella's booked at 8:05 or something like that the same day as the tour. We didn't get to breakfast until 8:20 and we still made it to the tour before it began. The only difference would be that we were already in the park. We did arrive around 9:50ish but we weren't the last ones there so it worked out fine.

You'll have a blast! The only thing about July is the challenge of getting down Main Street...our guide basically said if we make it through there, the rest is smooth sailing. :goodvibes

Thanks Becky2005 - I appreciate the advice! We'll just have to eat FAST at CM's and do the best we can. Hopefully we can get there a few minutes early to check in (ha)...we'll see! Thanks again!

We talked about doing this last year and didn't. This upcoming trip we are there 8 days. Now to talk to DH about it again. Is the tour available 7 days a week? So far in our planning, we have a Saturday and Sunday available.
Thanks. :)

Do they plan on changing it to a different story? We also did the one with Wendy and Captain Hook, but were wondering if they had other characters or other stories that they did...

I believe it is available every day. We did ours on a Saturday (hence the mob on Main Street - Saturday in July! :rotfl2: I figured we were safe, we just had to hustle to keep up with the guide and not get seperated. Actually it wasn't that bad but he was moving along at quite a pace at that point - just keep looking back to make sure he didn't lose any of us in the crowd.)

I've heard that Malificient put a spell on but it always seems to be Captain Hook's hook that gets taken from what I have read anyway (and I know I tried to read every report spoiler or otherwise when I was planning the trip).

I know the kids want to do it again, I'm just not sure it will be as much fun the 2nd time around but since they have requested, we probably will. I didn't tell them anything about it the first time - not even they were going on it. It was a complete surprise to them. However, I only took the 3 older kids, not the little guy.

We did this tour in August- it was hot, but still a blast! My kids (11,8,6) love Peter Pan- so they really enjoyed the whole thing. Well worth the $.

I have a few pics from the tour I could add, but I don't want to spoil anything for others.

How do you think it would be in November? The only day we have left is the day after Thanksgiving. Do the crowds affect the Family Magic Tour?

It was a pretty busy the week we were there (around August 5th) but we just made our way through the crowds as we went. It's kind of funny because people get out of your way when you are skipping through Tomorrowland :teeth:

I wouldn't let crowd size deter you from this tour.

I agree with Belle - don't worry about the crowd size on this tour....between the tour guide and well the fun, most people give you lots of room. :rotfl2: We never had a problem once we got past Main Street. We didn't really have a problem on Main Street either but during that part you are just basically walking quickly to the first clue - I just remember walking fast to keep up and basically he made a path for us to follow so we just swerved our way through the crowd.

How far in advance can you make your reservations?
The Passporter states reservations can be (and should be) made up to 90-180 days in advance...407-939-8687....Discounts: Disney Visa, AP holders, AAA & DVC Members!

You'll have a ball!

I made my reservation for this tour in the beginning of March and we are not going until October 24th, so I would call now.
