Falling into September Super Goofs Challenge

Hi Everyone!

I just got home from the hospital and I had to write to tell you how good I feel! They used a new anesthesia and the recovery from it was amazing - fast and easy. I didn't even fell nauseated and I usually throw up at least once. I even ate lunch which is unbelievable for me. I need to look up the anesthesia researcher that discovered this drug and send him/her flowers!

The news was all good and I am ok'd to run tomorrow as long as I have someone with me. Whew! And I really think I will feel good enough to run!

Cecilia

Happy Saturday everyone!

Updates:

Wednesday...30 mins bike/6.05 miles
Friday...30 mins bike/6.02 miles

Thinking about a local 5K on the 27th, its sponsered by Chick Fil A (for those of you who know) so I'm told there are chicken biscuits waiting at the finish line. What motivation!!!

I'm trying to make myself get back on the treadmill but the bike is infront of the TV and its sooooo easy to just watch something on the DVR and pedal. Oh well...

7:22/17:38 hours
50.32/115.07 miles

Hi Goofs!

I felt so incredibly great this morning that DH had to physically hold me back on mile 7 of our run!!! I was running at an 8 minute mile pace and had taken off from the group we were running with. Evidently nobody else wanted to power out the last mile.

 Oh it felt good to feel strong!

8 miles in 1:19:08 this morning.

Wow, Cecilia! I think you need to share some of that Wonder Anesthesia with the rest of us Goofs (or at least with those of us who are slow)! I did 4 miles with TNT today. Once again, I screwed up my timer, so all I know for sure is that we finished in slightly less than an hour.

Cecilia you rock, Wonder Woman!!

Today was 1 hour of body pump and one hour of body flow (yoga type class)
Off to run the four miles I put off yesterday.

Steve and I went riding this morning at 7am with some other folks in prep for our 50-miler in a couple of weeks. We went on a route with a lot of rolling hills. Man, oh, man....going downhill is a lot of fun but going up....:scared: ...especially with the winds of Ike coming in. I can see I need to do more weight-bearing exercises for my legs to get more strength. Geez!

Cecila - Wow! I need some of that stuff. Glad you are up and running again!

Suzanne - mmmm, chicken biscuits. That's almost right up there with the Krispy Kreme run. :teeth:

Saturday, Sept. 13:

Susie: 31 miles, 2:20 minutes
Steve: 31 miles, 2:10 minutes

Good morning my sweet Goofs!

I am glad to see everyone out and getting in their exercise. You are all so dedicated the the cause (your health of course!!).

My totals from last week are:
Running: 30.16 miles/5:21.28
Biking: 14.55/1:11.33

Total: 44.71 miles/6:32.61 (not a bad week :thumbsup2 )

I hope to update the spreadsheet soon but today is not the day...:confused3 I have to work, 10 mile run and then cooking for the boys birthday bash extravaganza. I survived the Friday night 40th party, the bowling kidlet birthday party and this should be the final party of the weekend!! Three birthdays within 4 days of each other is a bit much, dontcha think???

Anyway, yes, 10 miles today and I have an upper respiratory crappy thing that the kids brought home. I may end up walking some but steps are steps and I feel confident in my speed lately so I am just going to concentrate on getting it done.

Everyone have a super great day!!

4 miles yesterday in 50 minutes
10 today in 2 hours.
This week is 3-7-4-15. (Maine Coast half marathon Sunday! Lisa- you are going right?!)

2 miles in 22:40 today. And DH walked it in 28:00, so he should be good to keep under the RftT sweep pace.

4 reasons not to put off surgery:

1. 9:35
2. 9:27
3. 9:00!!!
4. 9:29

4.06 miles in 38:03!!!

Way to go GOOFs!! We are getting in thhose steps! (and rest -which is equally important!!)

Mike - hope you all are doing ok in Chicago. I can't believe all the rain you got in the last few days. Yikes!

Here's some more miles for Steve and me:

Sunday, Sept 14:

Susie: 5 miles, 1 hour (W/R, bike)
Steve: 3.5 miles, 1 hour (walk)

Hi goofs,

I was hoping to report some miles from the past 2 days but no such luck. My allergies have been bad, the humidity is very high and it has rained all wekend. A lot of excuses, I know. I have been taking Sudafed for the allergy stuff and well this morning my heart was really out of whack, skipping a lot and beats and the bp was up as well. Long story short, I think I need to stop taking the Sudafed and get this under control. Do you all exercise even when you are not feeling well?

Have a great week all!

Lynn

Good morning Goofs! I did NOT get out for my run or even for a walk yesterday. I was DOA all day and I would like to be today also. Unfortunately with all the goings on around here I have exactly 9 hours extra of earned time between now and my WDW vacay as I will use up all I have during Hollis and the vacation. Needless to day, no sick days for me but apparently non-running days. Did I not predict a crappy running week following last week's stellar runs????? :sad2:

Lynn: Clearly, NO, I do not exercise when I am not feeling well. The rule is above the neck yes and below the neck no. Fever is a no also. I have D-all of the above. I have pushed myself in the past 2 years and ended up with pneumonia twice so word to the wise, take a break, walk if you can, do not exert!!

Joanne: I will be with you in spirit only unfortunately, for the above noted reason. Sunday is a work day for me and I got roped into working extra on Sunday also. Apparently I was NOT thinking clearly with this virus. My SIL also has a mansion on the Cape (her BILs) for the weekend and I can't do that either... What was I thinking??? Sorry and I hope I have not let you down. I hope you hooked up with Erika (3DisneyKids) as she is really really nervous. I encouraged her to PM you and I hope that did happen.

Just remember, I will be thinking of you!

Mike: I hope you are not under water right now, although it would make for good swim training, right???

Cecilia: Wow, what kind of surgery was that, I think I need some. Especially right now!!! :lmao:

Everyone else: I will try to keep my virus contained to myself I promise. No computer bug passing!!

As for me, well you read it. No sick time, no fun on the Cape and I am 10 miles in the hole for the week. Time to get serious as Hollis is a mere 3 Saturdays away!!! Once again, I see my time goal slipping away.....:sad1: No really, I am not that upset. I just want to have fun and feel good. No really...:upsidedow DD has a field hockey game today. Yes she made futures. It is my DH 40th birthday. La la la la life goes on....:goodvibes

Take care everyone, wash your hands, use sanitizer, anything you can do to keep yourselves healthy enough to get your steps in...you know, quarantine your kids on a small desert island....

Good Morning, Lisa! I see you are up too at this wicked hour. Hope you feel better soon. Lots of fluids!

Joanne, I am ALWAYS up this early. I am working by 5 a.m. daily. Yes, I am pushing my fluids and not pushing myself. I think with the kids coughing and gagging around me and the party stress I just kind of asked for it. :confused3

9/12
1.5 miles/26 mins
AND
Friendly Kitchen 5K
3.1 miles/51 mins

(the race course got changed at the last minute, due to Obama speaking at one of the buildings and traffic going crazy, whole thing was off road, double loop, rained the whole time, but was FUN!!)

9/13
2 miles/32 mins

9/14
1 mile/16 mins

Do you all exercise even when you are not feeling well?

It depends. Usually no. I find that if I will just take a couple days to completely pamper myself that I get better much faster. Lisa is right though about not running if it is in your chest or if you have a fever.

I grew up an army brat and my dad would force massive fluid in us at the first signs of a cold. Dh was also in the army and he does the same thing. It works. Don't just drink a little more, Drink massive amounts more than usual. It really does make a difference.

The surgery was on my ear drums so I doubt it is responsible for my speedier runs. I think the rest it forced on me all afternoon Thursday and all day friday is what helped my speed.

I think I tied my shoes too tight and caused some tissue trauma on the top of my foot. It is extrememly sore to the touch today.

Cecilia
