Falling into September Super Goofs Challenge

Good morning Goofs! Glad to see everyone doing well!

Lisa: Take care of yourself! It's hard to 'skip' the miles, but you will be much better off taking care of yourself while you are sick. Better rest than overdoing and getting sicker.

My posting is late.....sorry!

Friday 9/12:

Time: 60 min
Miles: 6 elliptical

Saturday 9/13:

time: 60 min

Checking in,

:flower3: to all those under the weather or ailing.

There is no little icon for "mopping up wet floors", but if there was I would send it along to Mike and grab it for myself! Lots of rain over the last two days, but I managed to get in my first run outdoors yesterday in ages (1-2 months). Did 3.2 in 30:08. Not bad, but man is running outdoors harder for me than on the treadmill. Indoors, I seem to be able to run a 9-9:15 mpm pace for 3 miles, but outdoors it's another 30 seconds/mile easy. I'm trying not to neurose about that yet--too busy just trying to make it through my measly 3 miles! Maybe walking the 1/2 won't be too bad?!

Also, Saturday another "dog power walk" (no not dog-powered, although he could probably pull me for a 1/2 and not even slow down!) 2.3 miles in 40 minutes.

Good lord we have had a lot of rain. I did take a short swim in a retention pond during my 16.5 mile run on Saturday...probably caught dysentery or something too!

Anywho, today was an X train day, but hunny and one of the kidlets was sick, so I didn't get to swim, much as I would have liked to...maybe tonight.

Hello Super Goofs!! Well, once again, I have been MIA from the boards....I have been working out, it is just the posting part of it that I never get to. Between my training and wedding planning, there seems to be NO spare free time!
At any rate, I have some good news......my fiance convinced me to sign up for the Goofy through Anthony Travel. We have to book at least 3 nights hotel through them and I can get my Goofy entry!!! Now, back in January, I really wanted to do it, but because we were getting engaged, I decided not to do it to save money. My fiance knows how much I really wanted to do it in 2009, and he said he felt bad that I didn't do it, so he said we would work it out and get everything paid for...so I am going to sign up!!! I have been training, but it is going to be interesting to see how the whole training for the Goofy goes...I still have to figure exactly what plan I am going to use!!

Hopefully, this will keep me on the boards and updating my progress!!! Sorry no time to read through all the pages of posts, but I will try to check in later on tonight after going to the gym for my workout!!

Hi Goofs

No exercise for me today. Called in sick to work and this is something I never do.

I plan to start some light walking tomorrow, as I will be walking at the grocery store to get my shopping done for a start.

I am glad it is stopped raining!

Take care and hopefully I can get my steps in soon.

Just got back from the gym and I did:

3.2 miles/34 min.
plus stretching and abs

I am actually going to go back and give you an update on the month of september tomorrow too, so I can be updated for the month.

I hope everyone that is not feeling so good, is back to feeling better soon!

Hey all! I got in some more riding tonight. This makes three days in a row that I did some type of exercising. Tomorrow is a rest day. Yay! :teeth:

Monday, Sept. 15

Susie: 15 miles, 1 hour

Steve: 20 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes

More :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for those with injuries and other illness.

Hi Super Goofs,

Hope everyone is feeling better and doing well.
Sept. continues to be slow for me..too much work / kid stuff :rotfl2:

Friday - 2.7 miles / 46 minutes
Monday - 3.07 miles / 54 minute
Monday - 60 minutes rpm cycling class

Good morning Goofs! I trust that everyone is doing well and getting in their steps.

Laurie: Nice to hear from you again. I hope that your wedding plans are moving along well!!

Mike/Maura: Glad to hear you are both fine and getting along "swimmingly". :lmao:

Susie: Yay for consistent exercise. I feel way better when I am consistent!

Lynn: :wizard: I hope you feel better soon. I know it is hard to justify calling in sick when you can sit in your own house and be miserable and type. I hardly ever call in sick either!!

Beth/Cecilia: I am keeping my fluids up and taking extra vitamins trying to get rid of this. My run yesterday actually made me feel better.

Everyone else: Hang in there, cooler weather is coming and the opportunity to increase your exercise.

As for me, yes, I ran yesterday. I was pretty apprehensive going out as it was 80 and VERY windy here. I made up my mind to take it easy and just work on making up my miles lost. During my run, I decided to run 5 miles every day until Friday and then run the 8 I was supposed to on Friday getting back on the plan. That gives me my 28 miles due this week. So, I ran 5 yesterday, 2 slow and 3 at my 10K pace kind of on plan and averaged a 10:28 mpm for the run. I had 2 really slow miles, walking up the steep hills to save my lungs. I had 3 miles at a 9:30 to 9:45 average pace. All in all a good run for a  person. I coughed a lot afterward but this morning I feel a lot better. My head is not quite as big as it was yesterday morning. DD did well in her game and allowed 1 goal. She also got invited to go to Palm Springs, CA and goalie at a field hockey festival there for the u-16 team over Thanksgiving week. Yay me. I have to look at ticket prices as I fear that will be an expensive adventure.

Anyway, I have 5 on for today, just easy miles, no tempo runs and then will probably have to walk with my mom during FH practice. Open house for DS7 tonight. Phew, life has not slowed down a bit!!!!

Take care everyone and have a GREAT day goofing around!!!

3 miles in 39 minutes even though I only had 2 on tap for yesterday. The cool weather just felt too nice, and I couldn't resist the cross country trail!

Well, it is official...I am doing the GOOFY!!!! :goofy:

I registered last night with Anthony Travel, and I am officially registered for the Goofy! That being said, I will be on here alot now!!

Hope everyone is feeling better!! Keep up the good workouts!

Hi Everyone!

6 miles in 58:11 today. I meant to go slow but the cooler weather made it impossible.

Lisa - :confused3 sometimes running makes a head cold feel better for me too. strange.

Laurie - :yay: awesome! See ya there!

Lynnielou - Hope you feel better soon. Get some rest.

Mike - :scared1: I am horrified to hear that you swam in a retention pond. I hope everyone feels better soon so you can get to a filtered pool for a swim.

Kim - :woohoo: way to go on getting that extra mile!

Beth - :worship: your consistancy is amazing.

Maura - :upsidedow I run faster on the treadmill too. The roads outdoors are not quite as forgiving to your knees as a treadmill so you might feel a little achy after the outdoor run as well. All the adrenaline and excitement will make the half fly by. It will be fun!

Take care everyone!
Cecilia

3 miles in 35 minutes. I meant to go riding today but after working 5 days in a row my home needed me. Any points for multiple loads of laundry?

Hey Super Goofs! I am home relaxing after a LONG day at work! The kids at school were extra rambunctious today! This always happens the first few weeks back to school and then they settle down a bit...I hope that holds true this year!! I am going to rest for a bit then head to the gym for my workout!

Cecilia--Great job on your workout! I know the feeling about going faster when it gets a little cooler...I love that feeling!!

Mike--great job on your workout!

groovygirls--Great job on your workout....I would say multiple loads of laundry should count for something!!

I will check in later with my workout results....as you can see I am so pumped to be running in Jan....so I will be on here ALOT!!!

Just back from the gym....

3 miles
35 min

I am starting out with a walk/run plan for now and I am going to work my way up to running the whole time...hopefully this will prevent any injuries. Last year, I ended up with IT band problems a month or so before the marathon and I do not want that to happen this year.

Update for the day:

3 miles/ 53 minutes.

Also doing a trial membership and the gym this week...took a class called Bodyattack (which is what it did to my body :rotfl2: ) 60 minutes

Keep up the great work everyone

Laurie Congrats on going Goofy! It will be nice to meet other Goofs in January, although I am only doing the 1/2.

Did another decent indoor run yesterday. 3.25 miles in 30 minutes. So I'm thinking since I run better indoors, I should just push myself on those and let the outdoor long run be what it is.

Today did 45 minutes of biking (8.5 miles) and stretching. And now, I'm off to stand on one leg! (I saw these balancing exercises as a way to build ankle strength--but I think it really works your overall leg. I'm going to give it a try. It's harder than you think!)
