Falling into September Super Goofs Challenge

Kim: Sorry that the running gave you insomnia.
Whoops. I gave everyone the wrong idea. The running is actually making me so tired, I'm practically narcoleptic! It was DH leaving the TV on that caused me to wake up after a couple of hours, and then all hope of getting back to sleep was lost.

Cecilia, I'm glad your running partner didn't mind the surprise double miles today. Glad you got the long run in before your surgery!

2 hours of riding
1 hour spin class
3 miles in 36 minutes (on the treadmill because it is now pouring!)

Cecilia- I wish I had a running partner like yours!

BTW- I just signed up to run for the Alzheimers Association as my charity for the MCM. I think this will give me the extra motivation to finish. Mile 26 is dedicated to my dad.

Another 2 miles. 27:00 this time around because my calves were cramping after yesterday's run. I also did a 6-minute cooldown doing the elliptical in reverse for half a mile. Is it Friday (my rest day) yet?

8.4 mile run, 1:20:00, 9:35 average.

My right knee has been giving me fits...if that didn't hurt, I'd be doing great.

I took the plunge over the weekend, and signed up for the 2009 Madison Ironman...I'm more than a little scared about this one...lol...what an idiot...

Mike

Hi Goofs!

So sorry that I have been MIA over the past two weeks. Real life has taken over quite a bit as well as work. I am working 7 days a week and well, to say the least, now it is more important than ever to keep my physical health up to par, by exercising. Mentally I am much better off when I exercise as well.

Today, 2 hours of mowing the lawn.

My plan is to get back to running on a daily basis. I miss it!

Lynn

2 miles in 25:00. I'm all about ending on the minute this week -- it's just never the same minute!

Couple of updates:

Monday...30 mins bike/6.01 miles
Tuesday...118 mins walk/6.60 miles

I am about to get on the bike infront of the TV and will post those numbers tomorrow.

I got the "final race instructions email" for Race for the Taste today, about a month to go!

6:22/17:38 time
38.25/115.07 miles

Morning Goofs!!

Tuesday it rained on my parade so I had to put the 10 miles off until yesterday. I got it done in one 8 mile and one 2 mile segment. I ran out of time running errands for DH birthday party tomorrow night!! On the up side, my average was 9:58 mpm which is HUGE for me. I really pushed up the hills and I feel that I am way more ready for the Hollis hill than I was a few months ago! Of course, I have not seen the hill either......:lmao:

Cecilia: Great job getting the LR in. You sure do have a great running partner. If my SIL showed up and said, hey lets run 8 instead of 4, I would look at her like this  ...okay maybe not...:rolleyes1

Lynn: I hope that you can find a way to get running again. I know it helps me. I work 5 days and sometimes more so I feel your pain.

Mike: Congrats on committing to the Ironman. I don't think you are crazy just way more ambitious than I am!!!

Kim: I understand. My DH has been known to fall asleep with the TV on and I have to get up and shut it off. Then I am awake and I have to turn it back on...:sad2: . If your legs are cramping from consecutive runs, it could be that you did not stretch well enough so be sure and get your post run stretches in. Also make sure you are getting enough potassium and water.

Angie: How are the legs?

Have a great day Goofs and remember to put in your time. We are all in this together and we have made such strides personally and as a team since we started!! Keep up the great work everyone! :thumbsup2

Hi, everyone. Here are my numbers for the rest of the week so far.

Tuesday Stretch & Sterngthen 45 minutes
Wednesday 3.1 miles (30 min) & my leg work (10 min) for 40 min total
Thursday 30 minutes bike & my leg work (10 min) for 40 min total

Mike Congrats on signing up for Ironman. I bet you'll do great.

Suzanne I really wish I could do RFTT. The medal looked cool! At this point, though, I'm not sure I'm back up to running 6.2 and of course, my DH would kill me!

Everyone else, keep up the great work!

Maura

hi guys!

6 miles today in 58:23. The rain held off but it was so muggy it was hard to breathe!

Oh and I seriously under estimated how much my after run snack helps stave off hunger pains. I am fasting for my sugery tomorrow and I am SO HUNGRY. I can not imagine how grumpy I will be tomorrow morning. Good thing I am the first patient in the am or it might get ugly.

take care all!

Cecilia

:wizard: Pixie dust for the surgery tomorrow morning, Cecilia!

I did my two miles in 26:52 tonight. I was dragging toward the middle because I had to run right after a not-so-healthy dinner, but I managed to finish strong. Very excited about my rest day and date night tomorrow!

Late post from yesterday-
2 hours of riding and 7 miles in 1:25 (I probably should have run first then rode- I would have been faster!)

Good luck on the surgery!

Hey Goofs!

Cecilia - :wizard: for your surgery. Hope all goes well.

Mike - :scared1: :scared: :thumbsup2 I think the smilies say it all. :teeth:

Lisa - congrats on your speedy time on the hills!!! :thumbsup2

I'm in training for 3 things: 1/2 marathon in Oct & Nov, and a 50 mile bike ride in two weeks. I've never gone more than 30 miles on my bike. This should be interesting.

2 hours of bootcamp aerobics.

Off to a slow September start:

Good Friday morning Goofs. Today is last chance workout day for the week. We have all been putting up some great numbers and continuing to be very consistent with our exercise. Keep up the good work!! :thumbsup2

Here is an inspirational quote for you to think about this weekend: "Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way. Run often and run long, but never outrun your joy of running." ~Julie Isphording

Keep this in your hearts Goofs. It is not the benefits that we reap from running, walking or any other exercise that counts the most, it is the joy that comes from inside us when we feel good about ourselves that matters. Feel good about yourself today!!

I did my run yesterday. My average was 9:41 mpm. I seem to be having a fast week. I must have lost my mind or else I am VERY excited about Hollis. Or maybe it is because ToT is just a month and under 2 weeks away. Either way, I am enjoying the fact that running is easy this week. I have an easy 3 miler on for today and hill repeats. Then I have to start getting ready for DH party tonight. I have to make tropical salsa, regular salsa, and some skewers of shrimp and scallops. :rolleyes1 You know, not much work at all...:sad2: Hopefully it will all be done by the time guests arrive at 6 p.m.

This weekend will be DS kidlet birthday party, soccer game, Futures tryouts for field hockey, family birthday party for the 3 birthday boys and a 10-16 mile run. Can you guess which end I am leaning toward??? I truly cannot see myself running much over 10 this weekend. Here's hoping that I stay fast!!!

Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy your last chance workout today. Do something great for yourself, enjoy it and remember the best times of your life today!!! :flower3:

5 miler on tap...then repair a leaking Natural Gas Fitting that I found at 11:40 last night so we don't blow up....

9/8
1.5 miles/26 mins

9/9
1.5 miles/24 mins

9/10
1 mile/16 mins

9/11
1.5 miles/24 mins

gotta figure out how to get my miles back up, and still get everything done after school, between practices and games, I'm not getting home until after 7, then there is dinner and homework, and by then it's dark...and the TM keeps everyone up at night, so I cant go too late on that. Luckily I've still been able to get out on my lunch breaks! Where there's a will, there's a way, I just have to find it.
