Fall Secret Sister Sign-Up- CLOSED

I live in an area with nothing spectacular. Really. Could I go with the nearest city? But then...that's just big on food! I'll have to think really hard about that month!

I got a beautiful card with a Tinkerbell sticker from my SS :D Thanks! I had a rough day at work and it was awesome to come home to

If I was your SS, I would want egg noodles, apple butter, blueberry preserves, apron, pot holders, barn sign. Yup, a whole list of wonderful Amish things would certainly brighten up someone's Christmas. ;)

Throw in some sand dollars & sea shells all packaged up in a pretty bottle and you are good to go!! :thumbsup2

That's it, my SS is gonna get sand ;)

That's so funny! The first time I put my foot in the ocean where I live, the water was so cold that my foot got a cramp before I could pull it back out of the water! Of course, yours would be so warm.

You did give me an idea for my SS though for a regional item. It gives me something for which to look. Maybe if I can just find a small one it will fit in the SS budget...

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Ok, that made me laugh out loud!! Thanks, Faerie needed that laugh.

DD and I did some shopping for our SS this past weekend. It was so much fun, it's just hard to know when to say when!

We have lots of sand and cheesy tourist shops on A1A in Fort Lauderdale. Good shells are on the west coast but I think DBF and I are going over there one weekend so I'll be good to go

hehhe I could sent my SS thermometer and a big ole sun dial..lol.. We have lots here in Arizona though. Grand Canyon, Heat, Indian things. We even have the REAL London bridge here! and have I mentioned the HOT weather so maybe some suntan lotion. I am going to have to dig deep and see what I can find. Like AWM I want to make my final package all about my SS and make it really memorable for her.

Ohmom said
does she buy NYC souvenirs or since she knows how much i love Bobby Flay she gets me an autographed Bobby Flay cookbook?

okay - I was LOL on that one! - I know if you ACTUALLY got that - your next comment would be "my SS met BF or she ate at one of his restaurants without me!..............waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh  not that you wouldn't be grateful for a wonderful autographed cookbook , BUT any time you could get "close" to a BF eatery would be putting a great big ol "smile" on your face, and to meet him would be "over the top" I'm sure :rotfl2:

Okay - back to reality........ thoughts for package number 3 - I was thinking it would include something about my state that might be "fun" for my SS to to try to figure out just "who" I am.

In my case since I live in Amish country I could send many different items. I have not thought about that month yet, but was planning for an Amish Country item(s). Is that what I am suppose to send?

OMG I would love anything from Amish Country! that's a great idea!!!!

Yup, I'm with you AWM. Love the Amish things!

I haven't been to the Grand Canyon since I was a kid but I still have the seed bead necklace that I bought. I think I was about 7 years old. I just did those layouts for mine and my brothers heritage book.

Well, I've been thinking that my SS doesn't want a lot of stuff from my state either. So, I was planning on not sending any dust collectors (well, maybe just 1 or 2), but I was thinking about local recipes... a couple of pics... postcard... but nothing she will feel bad about throwing away...

So, how close is everyone really staying to the guidelines...are you following exactly or using as a general guide, with your own added "I think she would like this too"? Just curious...

AND I have to say "the one for my SS and one for me" shopping has been just too much fun!! I was at Mike's yesterday with my friend, and she was asking "Why are you buying 2 of everything"? :rotfl2:

the quote from POC is perfect.
"Pirate code??? They're more line guidelines anyway."

I buy what jumps out at me. 2 of everything of course. As for my state, region, town, what ever. I'm at a loss. I need to think about that one.
I do use the list a bit but I go out on a limb too.

I've been buying some things for the theme but not everything. Other stuff is what I think she may like or something that was on her list.

OK, good, I'm doing the same thing... Loose interp of the guidelines... but adding things I think she will like... :thumbsup2

I was pretty much planning my last box to be a lot of food related stuff plus other goodies. I'm at least pretty lucky that Mrs. Grossman's factory is in my neck of the woods. :thumbsup2

If you have to go west.. hit Sanibel... or better yet.. the Shell Factory in Ft. Myers! LOL I want sand.. I'm not in the SS but if you want to send me some sand.. I'd be all over it! :)

We were planning on a Sanibel weekend :D we painted our 3rd bedroom an ocean/tropical blue and have a couple of large rectangle glass vases that we're going to fill with sand/shells for decoration
