Fall Direct Incentives

My thoughts:

Poly - minimal (like when Cabins first went on sale)

Riviera - they will be worse (more expensive) than the last two cycles to make Poly look better in comparison

Cabins - maybe something more aggressive?

Aulani/VDH - not a clue. Staggering along as usual?
This is a recipe for me buying...
Nothing.

Crazy me wants to possibly add 100 more to my 200 pt purchase that I can still modify at VDH. I hope the incentives are better there, but currently they are $1,000 less than what I got. I am thinking that they wont be any better than what I got.

What if the Skyliner was down for 6m because of a major repair need due to some weather event?

I’d hate to be stuck with something where I couldn’t at least explore other options….

Then those owners are going to be in the same situation as the other resorts that rely on bus only?

Every resort has pros and cons and for us, RIV, it’s the place that ticks all the top boxes.

If I have to be stuck there, sans Skyliner, we’d still be happy.

I know, that ball is hard to stop once it gets rolling!

I was debating about more Riv vs. Poly, but weak Poly incentives (along with the high point charts) and worse Riv incentives than currently would be a sit and wait situation for me.

More Riv in my case would be to be able to get into larger villas at 11 months.

Since I would be using them at Riv, it has me contemplating something I never thought I would: Resale Riviera!

But I really do not like the thought of a batch of points that aren't mobile at the 7 month mark. Even not being able to use my resale VGC at other resorts, like VDH for example, bugs me.

Yes, it bugs me too.

See in that case I think I'd be more upset with using my expensive direct RIV points elsewhere at the 7 month mark knowing I could just as easily get a SSR contract for that purpose. But yeah, it's definitely comforting knowing that at least you have more than one option with those points.

When it’s working the CBR people fill up 9 out of 10 skyliners and you stand there getting frustrated waiting to go to epcot

when it’s 100degree heat in summer its fine when it moves but reality is it slows to a crawl every 100m and you heat up. It’s the worst transportation for me

My wife has said it’s a no go. Which is a shame because I think she would really enjoy the property. But… she is a “worst case is the base case” type of person. I have a mandate to only stay at location where we can walk or boat to a park.

I don't have any inexpensive points

Does Winter typically have the best incentives?
The "holiday" season tends to have better incentives than "winter". (Holiday being Nov-Jan, Winter being Jan/Feb-March/April) The last two summers have been fairly competitive, but December/January typically brings a base price increase, so might be a wash. The potential 2025 summer savings won't necessarily matter given a higher base price.

I'll be curious how they run the "holiday" incentives given we are getting new incentives on Oct 1, with Poly only on sale Oct. 29 to new members. Will this "fall" round run through the end of the year, or an unusual-ish shorter round of only a couple months, with new incentives in Nov/Dec? We'll see.

I had been debating the same thing - I have a good chunk of RIV points but want enough to have the flexibility to book a 2 bedroom for a week every year without borrowing - I’m about 75 short.

I’m in the process of selling one of my VGF resales and leaning towards buying a small direct POLY contract. I know the incentives will be nonexistent but figure over the length of the contract for such a small amount there wouldn’t be much a difference between resale anyway… 🤷‍♀️

Oh wow - so she would never want to even try AKV? It was a one and done for me but can’t deny the Savana views are quite the experience!

There might be incentives at 100 points…..

I asked about SSR vs RIV and there is only about a $2,000 difference right now because the incentives for RIV are better. And the contract is longer....so I'm not sure SSR is really a good buy vs RIV.

Yeah that $2000 represents 16 more years, about $125/yr.

Not sure how many points but on 150pts less than $1 each lol and $2000 is buying 2400 more points on contract.
