Last year we went to disney in early october and it was sooooo crowded. Was told that is was fall break week for the souther schools. Can anyboyd tell we what week fall break is this year?

I can only speak for FL, but typically, we don't get a "fall break" here. A lot of schools have an early release day Thursday and then have off Friday for a long weekend on October23rd and 24th. But that's usually it for FL schools.

In Georgia, it varies by county. A few of the counties have Fall Break the week of September 15. Other counties don't have a Fall Break but do have an extra long weekend Columbus Day weekend (Oct 10-13).

We live in Lake County, Fl and we have Mon. Oct. 20th off. I believe Polk County also has Oct. 20th off. In the past I have seen a lot of Northerners here in Oct. I have family that lives in Indianapolis and they have fall break Oct. 14-18.

Where I live in SC the schools don't have a fall break. And the colleges around here only get a two-day break for fall.

Most of North Alabama and Nashville Metro have Oct 4 - Oct 13th or so. AKA Oct Free Dining Blackout dates

The school systems that have Fall Breaks can have them anytime between mid September through the third week of October. Some schools have as little as a long weekend, while some can have breaks as long as a week and a half. Breaks vary widely. Many schools don't have breaks at all, as well.

The most popular Break dates seem to be between approximately October 6- 17, the weeks around Columbus Day.

Our district in KY has fall break October 6-10, but not every district in the state has a break.

I don't think we ever have a week long break until the week of Thanksgiving in my part of Georgia.

Most of the schools around here are off either the first full week, or the second full week of October. Most of them only have 2 or 3 days off, instead of the whole week, but since it is a short school week a lot of parents will pull their kids out the rest of the week for trips. Travel is a lot less crowded that time of the year than it is on Spring Break.

This year my kids are out Oct 6-10. Last year it was Oct 21-26. It varies by district and by year. Makes planning fun. :)

Ours falls the week of Columbus Day (and the Thursday and Friday before) We went to WDW last year during that week and I was also very surprised by the crowds. While it isnt summer or Christmas crowds- it is not the slow low crowd time is used to be. Which I imagine is why that week is usually blocked out of free dining.

DS is no longer in school, but I looked it up online. Hawkins County TN is out Oct 13-17. There are several different school systems in Northeast TN and I'm pretty sure all of them take a fall break, but I'm not sure it's the same week.

Our district in KY has fall break October 6-10, but not every district in the state has a break.

Ours (also in Kentucky) is the same week. I did a poll on this last year and I think this particular week (the week before Columbus Day) had slightly more than any other week for Fall Breaks, at least in the poll, followed closely by the week of Columbus Day.

OP: not only do fall breaks in early October contribute to more crowds than in years past, but also Columbus Day weekend itself contributes. Schools that have no fall break often do have Columbus Day off. Other factors are the Food & Wine Festival in EPCOT and a huge convention at one of the EPCOT area resorts around that time (Gartner I think).

Northeast Georgia here. Our schools are out Oct 6 thru 10 - week before Columbus day.

I'm also in Ky, and fall break here is Oct 6-10th. Tons of people from our area head either to Disney or the Gulf coast during that week each year.

Texas here. I've never attended nor taught in a school that had a fall break and that includes west, south, central, and now North Texas.

our son goes to a private school in georgia and he does not get a fall break but does get a 4 day weekend in october. The 3rd-6th

We live in the Northern suburbs of Atlanta and we have a half day on Thursday, October 16 and then Friday the 17th off. I know lots of people head down to Orlando on these days since they are the only ones we get off from the start of school until Thanksgiving.
