Hard to believe the disparity between how far out one cruise company releases itineraries and another is fascinating. DCL is basically only 14 months out on itineraries and another line is more than two years out.Carnival just announced a batch of 2027-2028 itineraries today already! Including moving the Dream from Galveston to New Orleans.
Come on Disney get with it and give us the rest of 2026 for goodness sake! (I'm sure it won't be happening today with the Disneyland Anniversary, fingers crossed its soon though!!)
lol I got the same email. For half a second I thought wooo hooo. And then wah wah wahI was excited for a millisecond yesterday. I received an email from DCL.... It was just them trying to sell the existing Pixar Cruises.... sigh....
Also, I really want NYC, but just don't think it is happening. I checked the cruise schedule for fall 2026. It looks pretty full. I hope I am wrong.
I didn't get an email with my cabin: found out only by app refresh (and the fact that everyone in the FB group was chiming in about their *GT assignments, too).I am waiting for my cabin assignment for my Aug 1 Wish cruise, so DCL email got me excited and then![]()

Too funny! I recently did my 99th cruise (many ships/ 4 cruislines) The worst ship I have ever been on was the Wish. The closet door fell on me and my husband was on the balcony and couldn't hear me yelling for help. And that was not the low point. I did really like the Treasure though.Thank you. I find reviews tend to skew negative on most ships and the you tube vloggers are always overly positive. I'm sure its somewhere in between. Other than DCL I've cruised on Royal and Carnival and some of my family has cruised on NCL. So far the only ship I haven't liked is the Wish.
I think DCL releases later than some other lines because of the demographics of their guests. A vast majority of DCL guests are families with kids so knowing school schedules is important and those are only released 12-18 months on advance. DCL wants to be able to leverage the initial excitement from the itinerary release to get bookings and that is lost if people can't/won't actually book for another 12 months when a school schedule gets released. If they release too early they inventory will just sit unsold waiting for people to get school calendars or will result in a barrage of cancellations once people realize their booked dates don't work.Hard to believe the disparity between how far out one cruise company releases itineraries and another is fascinating. I don't think they change that much year to year and across the country there is so much variation (my son goes to school until mid-June, while some of his cousins in Tennessee are done at least 2 weeks earlier). Some schools do spring break around Easter and some have a fixed week.A vast majority of DCL guests are families with kids so knowing school schedules is important and those are only released 12-18 months on advance.
I don't think people in general plan that far out. It's why the cheapest time to buy airfare is about 2 months out and cruise lines release discounts after PIF dates. School schedules don't change enough to make a difference.I don't think they change that much year to year and across the country there is so much variation (my son goes to school until mid-June, while some of his cousins in Tennessee are done at least 2 weeks earlier). I agree in general though that families are not planning that far out.
Can't you just save the money in a savings account instead of booking cruises you have no intention of going on? It makes no sense.I plan all my holidays well in advance (years) for budgeting reasons
In fact I have Disney cruises already booked for next year which I have no intention of going on but will just change to the fall cruise I want when it comes out. That way thousands is already paid before it even comes out.
When your doing trips from the uk and doing Disney world at the same time it’s over 15k and need way more notice and time than what Disney gives me so this is how I do it

I think a lot of people have this psychological need to book stuff way in advance and then don't even end up taking the vacation because life gets in the way or something else comes up.
Used to but always ended up touching it and the money going to other things, it’s safer with Disney lolCan't you just save the money in a savings account instead of booking cruises you have no intention of going on? It makes no sense.
So you use Disney as a savings account? That’s a first.Used to but always ended up touching it and the money going to other things, it’s safer with Disney lol
A year is reasonable and on track with DCL’s releases. Honestly other cruise lines that release years in advance sometimes end up changing itineraries, cancelling cruises or swapping ships. We normally plan about a year out, I think 8 months is the shortest. But I have to map out the PTO in a rolling 12 month period for me, whereas my husband is lose it or use it.
I just want the fall itineraries because I was hoping for a Bermuda season....and if there is Bermuda we'd book that and go to WDW for April break next year. I just want to hit gold before we go on a non-Caribbean itinerary.
