Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

I haven't eaten at either, but pretty much see nothing but great reviews of whispering canyon, so we have an adr set for our October trip. It was a late add on, so it's later than I prefer. Gonna keep checking. The food looks SO good. And my kids are so easily embarrassed right now, I'm excited about laughing at their embarrassment because I'm an awesome mom.

Lol, I love this!!!! Lol

If anyone sees a FD Standard room at CBR for 11/15-11/20 open PLEASE tag or inbox me! I have a preferred room for those dates but looking over budget and with MVMCP tickets being so high I really need to step down to a standard room. I have been checking constantly but just wanted to put it out there if anyone sees one come available that would be awesome! I know some of us are still watching for FD.:surfweb:

Thanks, but due to school schedules and the kids getting older we have to go during closures. Which would mean the week between Christmas and New Years. I think at that point it is a toss up between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We are going to try a June trip to in 2017 so we can compare accurately moving forward for the best time to go for my family.
It's tough, no more pulling the kids from school for us. The work is just crazy that they have in school now.
I understand. I homeschool, but DD and her BF were in college last year and we took them, so we had to do thanksgiving. We are September people, so it was one of the only times we went peak season. She just moved out so we are back to September :rotfl:

Does Biergarten have the show at lunchtime as well as dinner? We've never been and are thinking of going for lunch, for the Candlelight Processional, than having dinner at Coral Reef afterwards.
Lunch has the show too!! We just did it last year. Although I am not a fan.

This is exactly what I am constantly checking for but I don't think it will happen unless more availability during these dates open up. There hasn't been one standard room at CBR available for these dates since before they released the FD dates... But hey it could happen! We just gave up on attending MVMCP party due to cost.

I am having trouble deciding between 2 ADR's so I thought I would ask what everyone here likes the best.:) Biergarten or Whispering Canyon Cafe. Every time we have gone we have ADR's for both and end up switching them for something else. I really want to try one of them this trip but I can't decide! On our Epcot day my DD wants Akershus, so we could do that for breakfast and Biergarten for dinner. On one of our MK days we only have QS planned so we could take the boat to WL and go to WC. I am leaning towards WC because I've always wanted to check out WL. TIA for any suggestions! We are going Nov14-21, are there any Christmas decorations up at the Lodge yet?
Whispering Canyon! So you can see WL decorated for Christmas while you are there and don't have to make a special trip. I've always wanted to go to Biergarten because I want to see the show and the atmosphere looks fun, but I can't see spending that much money for sausages. Lol! I know there is some other food there, just not much there that I like.

Is that more due to the food or the show? Looking at the menu I'm not sure the rest of my party would enjoy the selection. A vegan, someone with egg allergies, two kids.

You didn't ask me but as someone who also is not a fan, I'll answer. People who love German food probably will love Biergarten. Looooottttttssssss of sausages, pork dishes, ham, pork-based cold cuts, etc plus one or two chicken and fish dishes. There might have also been a beef dish. Then there is a selection of salads like cabbage, potato salad, etc and a bunch of desserts. As a non-pig eater, I struggled. I had a bit of chicken and a bit of fish and then filled up on carbs (pretzel rolls!) and cucumber salad. The desserts were average at best. For me it's simply not a good value. On the other hand, my parents and brother all love pig-based meats so they have a blast here. And the kids found plenty to eat that they liked, plus they loved the show.

So I think the kids would be fine, the egg allergy person would most likely be fine, and the vegan will probably be limited to a handful of the salads and one or two desserts. Only you can know if they would like it. Here is the menu in case you haven't seen it.

  • Oktoberfest Buffet - Cold Items:
Potato Salad, Cucumber Salad, Tomato Salad, Cabbage Salad, Bean Salad, Sausage Salad, Cold Cuts, Pasta Salad, Liver Sausage, House-made Pickles, Mixed Greens, Rolls and Pretzel Rolls

    Entrées:
Soup of the Day, Bratwurst, Regens Burger with Sauerkraut, Oven-roasted Potatoes, Pork Schnitzel, Beef Rouladen, Roasted Chicken, Baked fresh Cod with Mustard and Butter Sauce, Cheese Platter, Red Cabbage, Macaroni & Cheese, Sauerbraten, Meatballs, German Meat Loaf, Spätzle, Roast Pork Ham

    Desserts:
Cheesecake, Chocolate Roll, Rote Grutze with Vanilla Suace, Black Forest Cake, Watermelon, Peach-Almond Cake, Apple Strudel, Chocolate Cookies

Thank you SO much! I lean toward vegetarianism and could deal with this meal for the show, but our vegan diner asked us to PLEASE make a different choice, so decision made.

I been checking about 3 times a day to see if I can upgrade up to a resort. I think its time for me to make peace as well lol!
I'm still checking multiple times a day too. I received a pin today and I'm so tempted to call, but I think I just need to keep what I already have and be happy that I got FD................Who am I kidding? I'll probably end up calling.

Have you called to see if you have a pin code? I don't know if standard rooms are offered with pins, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

I just called the other day to have the CSR rep add notes about our 25th anniversary and DH's 55th birthday to our reservation. The rep was fabulous and a Disney fanatic like us; she also has an adult daughter two years older than mine. She said be sure to pick up the buttons and wear them, so special things might happen. She also made sure I had the dates and times for making ADRs and FP+ reservations.
Congrats on your celebrations!

I have not received any pin codes recently in the mail or though email. What would I ask them….just do I happen to have a pin code that I could apply?

Sure. Just call and ask if there is a pin code in your name or another adult listed in your travel party. If they don't currently show one, call back in a week or two and check again.
