Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

I stayed POR when it was Dixie Landings and I loved the boat to DTD but POFQ is my all time moderate favorite. I guess everyone found the secret best deal in town that is why there are never any discounts on this resort.
I thought POR was actually bigger than CSR. Food court in CSR outstanding
Oh ok, maybe it is the layout that just makes it seem bigger!

A heads up for those making ADRs, if you have a split stay, you will have 2 different days to make ADRs. You can not make ADR'S for the second half until 180 days before the first day of that stay. You used to be able to do the whole trip at once with a split stay but it's not allowed now.

When my TA made our ADRs I had given her a list of most important ones going to least important and I put anything I just HAD to have (and are hard to get like bog and CRT) at the end of our trip. So she made those right at 6am and they were 180+7/8 since they were at the end of our trip. Seemed to work pretty well, got everything we wanted! Of course that was before FD dropped... May be trickier to get things now.
It could open a whole lot to if people that couldn't get FD cancel reservations.

How hard is it to get the ADRs you want, even the tough ones? Last time I just sent my TA a list and she took care of it, lol. If you go on right at 6 on your ADR day are you going to get most everything? I'm getting kind of nervous!

I got FREE DINING!!!! And I got it on my preferred dates, while my kids are on fall break!!! Wooohoo! It is 2 rooms at Pop instead of 2 rooms at POR, but I've heard good things about Pop, so I am happy!! See y'all at WDW Oct 1-9!!
Congrats!!!! Unless something at POR opens up we'll be there too.
party:

Are the MNSSHP tickets a available yet??? Trying to get my husband to go but his answer is always we don't have kids and it's a party for kids.... Blah blah what does he know..... :yay:
You don't need to have kids to go to the party. There are just as many adults dressed up as there are kids. The party is great.......short lines, extra characters, lots of candy and amazing parade and fireworks(my personal favorites).

I think CM's are able to see things differently than we are, so in some ways it could be easier. It seems they can see availability on multiple days are once rather than just one. But I would try to book any that you can online at 6am and then if you don't have luck call. Then if you still don't have luck stalk the ADR Cancellation threads on the boards.

I don't think you will have a big problem with BOG lunch. It's dinner that seems to be the probably lately. And I have been doing trial runs of our ADR (usually at random times during the day so not at 6am) and I have seen lunch available many times, and we are a party of 9.
I agree about BOG. When I booked lunch at my 180 +10 there was lots of availability, but the only dinner time I could get was for 4:25 for our trip.

Do I have to prepay Hoop de Doo or Spirit of Aloha if I'm on the dining plan????? Or does that only hold true for CRT?
As long as your FD package is booked you shouldn't have to charge your cc, but you will still need to use the cc as a hold for the reservation.

I've heard things are usually good when you get on 180 days out, but people talked about how difficult it was to get all of their ADRs in October. Apparently, October is going to be a very busy month this year! That's probably why October is blacked out of free dining...

I got everything I wanted... My TA had to book and then cancel a couple things to get the times to what we wanted since it only shows you three times at a time. She booked what she could and then checked again and saw better options so booked those and canceled the other

Is there anywhere I can look to see how much the meals we want are when we go?
I looked at all ears website, and it's great but only gives me a range.
That can make a big difference!
I want to budget tips and buy Disney gift cards with tip amount on them :)
I also want to know how much the one meal we will pay out of pocket will cost me.

The Disney site has menus for all the restaurants....CS and TS

Thank you that helped for BOG :)
But still only has price ranges for all the buffets boo.
I guess an estimate will work not like if we have extra on our gift card we won't spend it lol

I finally was able to catch up on all the posts from the weekend, I had been super busy and hadn't had time to read it all. To jump on the telling people about going to Disney conversation that was going on, I'll add to that. We actually have not told anyone we are going to Disney World this year and the BounceBack has been booked since our trip last fall! We have not even told our family yet, as I'm sure we will get the "but you just went" conversation. It's just DH and me and we are the only ones who know. So it's this super secret between us :chat: And the only ones I can talk about it with are him and my DIS buddies and it's killing me!!! I want to scream it from the highest point that we are going to Disney, but we are holding off till June. I'm not sure how everyone is going to take it. We are going for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we are so excited. But I'm a little worried that my Mom will feel left out (yes I know that sounds weird, like why would she want to go on your anniversary trip...but she also loves Disney). And when we went in 2013 on our first solo trip, she kept saying, "if you wait till next year we could all go" so I felt kind of bad. So this is like a super stealth trip that we've been planning forever now and it's just so crazy that nobody knows. She didn't even know I booked the BounceBack while she was down there with us. I had to be super sneaky to call without her catching us! They are all going to be shocked when we just drop it on everyone. Still figuring out how to handle telling my Mom.
That would be a big secret to have to keep for that long. I don't have to worry about keeping it a secret in my family because they all know I'm always planning a trip to Disney. The shock for them would be if I went somewhere else. Sometimes they wish I wouldn't talk about it so much. I think that's why my daughter and SIL encouraged me to sign up on dis boards so I could obsess with others.
Congratulations on 20 years and I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!!

I always check Allears for updates to their list. I usually guess on the higher end when trying to figure tips. Anything left over I consider a bonus to use toward my next trip or maybe an extra souvenir.

Thanks! Haha, yeah I'm lucky my husband is also crazy about Disney so we talk about it nonstop. We are always saving for the next trip. Yes the disboards definitely helps to be able to purge some of my Disney craziness. I hope your trip is magical and you have a wonderful time!

Last year we didn't know about the DIS or that you could book your ADR's online at 6:00am. An hour later when I called I could get everything we wanted except BOG dinner. It was booked for our entire stay Oct.30-Nov7. About 2 months before our trip when everyone started making FP+ selections I was able to get BOG dinner for 5 at 4:30pm. My daughter changed her mind and wanted CRT instead of Akershus around that same time and I found that to by checking at least twice a day. If you don't get something right away keep checking especially around 60 days out when people start booking FP+, I saw a lot open up then!:) This year we aren't doing BOG dinner again so hopefully I won't have to stalk the dinning reservation site as much this year, LOL! Unless the kids change their minds again!
