Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

Is it easier to make your reservations by calling? I've always done them online but seeing posts in other threads that state you have a better chance of availability by calling, is that true?

Phone lines open at 7am, and dining reservations can be made at 6am. If there's one you couldn't get online you could always call at 7 and see. That's what I plan to do!

I've done them that way in the past, online, then calling if it wasn't available. I just wondered if there was an advantage to using MDE. Ty everyone!!!

After asking my question I read a thread about making ADR's and someone said they have 3 or 4. People signed into her account making reservations at the same time. I don't think I will need to do that as the only high demand reservations I want are O'hana's and BOG for lunch.

Hopefully if I am up at 6 am EST I will get them.

I don't think it's necessary to have a team online to make adrs. DH would probably think I was crazy if I made him do that at 6 am Sunday morning. Lol

Shoot to get BOG in the later days of your trip...use the 180+10 to your advantage :) book the harder to get ones first then go back to the earlier days if they are less popular.

When my TA made our ADRs I had given her a list of most important ones going to least important and I put anything I just HAD to have (and are hard to get like bog and CRT) at the end of our trip. So she made those right at 6am and they were 180+7/8 since they were at the end of our trip. Seemed to work pretty well, got everything we wanted! Of course that was before FD dropped... May be trickier to get things now.

I've never been worried about dining reservations, but with it being near Christmas AND FD I wanted a strategy. I think I'm set now!! I actually think BOG and O'hana's are about equally popular, so ill try for them first, (they are 1/2 way through our trip)

The rest should be a piece of cake!

I finally was able to catch up on all the posts from the weekend, I had been super busy and hadn't had time to read it all. To jump on the telling people about going to Disney conversation that was going on, I'll add to that. We actually have not told anyone we are going to Disney World this year and the BounceBack has been booked since our trip last fall! We have not even told our family yet, as I'm sure we will get the "but you just went" conversation. It's just DH and me and we are the only ones who know. So it's this super secret between us :chat: And the only ones I can talk about it with are him and my DIS buddies and it's killing me!!! I want to scream it from the highest point that we are going to Disney, but we are holding off till June. I'm not sure how everyone is going to take it. We are going for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we are so excited. But I'm a little worried that my Mom will feel left out (yes I know that sounds weird, like why would she want to go on your anniversary trip...but she also loves Disney). And when we went in 2013 on our first solo trip, she kept saying, "if you wait till next year we could all go" so I felt kind of bad. So this is like a super stealth trip that we've been planning forever now and it's just so crazy that nobody knows. She didn't even know I booked the BounceBack while she was down there with us. I had to be super sneaky to call without her catching us! They are all going to be shocked when we just drop it on everyone. Still figuring out how to handle telling my Mom.

I got FREE DINING!!!! And I got it on my preferred dates, while my kids are on fall break!!! Wooohoo! It is 2 rooms at Pop instead of 2 rooms at POR, but I've heard good things about Pop, so I am happy!! See y'all at WDW Oct 1-9!!

Yay

Did anyone hear anything about MVMCP tickets yet?
I'm so antsy lol

Are the MNSSHP tickets a available yet??? Trying to get my husband to go but his answer is always we don't have kids and it's a party for kids.... Blah blah what does he know..... :yay:

Yesterday when the site was being glitchy I hit things to do tab and mnsshp showed up first but when I clicked no tickets. Is it a sign that it is coming?? I hope so!

Oh I hope so

No but on the other board they are taking bets on when it will be released.

Lol
I'm hoping this week so I can just buy them.
I was talking to hubby about Disney the other day and the party and he was like but that cost extra right?!
I just quickly changed the subject.
Next time it comes up I want to say oh but I already got the tickets lol

Uhhhh isn't the whole idea of Disney for kids. But nope its not. Its got a stage show, fireworks, you get to trick or treat, and a parade and shorter line for the rides. yeah you are probably not going stand in line to get character autos but that just makes the lines smaller.

That's what I was thinking the lines might be shorter for rides while the kids are out meeting characters....

I think CM's are able to see things differently than we are, so in some ways it could be easier. It seems they can see availability on multiple days are once rather than just one. But I would try to book any that you can online at 6am and then if you don't have luck call. Then if you still don't have luck stalk the ADR Cancellation threads on the boards.

I don't think you will have a big problem with BOG lunch. It's dinner that seems to be the probably lately. And I have been doing trial runs of our ADR (usually at random times during the day so not at 6am) and I have seen lunch available many times, and we are a party of 9.
