Facebook

I joined about 3 days ago, and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 Don't DIS much anymore, especially on the CB, too many "mean" people here.:guilty:

:wave2:

I joined around Sept to monitor what DD14 was putting on there. I am now officially addicted. I have connected with high school and college friends that I had completely lost touch with over 20 years and had no other way to find them.

I have even connected with a couple of Disers.

Yes, I joined a couple months ago and it IS addictive!

Same here.

A lot of old friends and acquaintances looked me up - plus a lot of the younger generation relatives (until then I had signed onto myspace just to spy on them.... lol).

I don't do a lot of the games - but I do enjoy looking at everyone's photos and seeing their kids grow up.

Another surprising thing to me - a lot of my former high school friends were big Obama supporters (we never talked politics back then - it amused me to see that we're on the same page politically.....) Maybe our common teachers secretly indoctrinated us back in the day! ;)

My family talked me into joining it about a week ago. I really don't understand what is so exciting about it. :confused3 I just joined to make them leave me alone. You can be ignored just as easily on Facebook as you can here.

I'm completely addicted to Facebook. DIS and Facebook are my unhealthy obsessions. In fact, I just joined the official DIS group on Facebook so now my addictions have merged slightly. :thumbsup2

Did you see that Flair that said "does is creep you out that your mom is now on Facebook?" :rotfl2:

DS was in here the other day when I read it and he said " ummm yeeeeessss" :rotfl2:

I just laughed and said "Stinks to be you, dude. Im not going anywhere!"

I have so many friends form High School and different places taht I have worked and lived. I LOVE it.

Ds came in last night and said "crap mom you have 28 friends on line! I dont even HAVE 28 friends!" :rotfl2:

I do both - usually both are on all the time. I hardly do email now -- so spoiled by Facebook, with the pictures, 3 way messages, chat, etc. I joined because people kept asking me if I was on it. Now I chat simultaneously with a friend in England, my SIL in Ontario, and a few friends about 200 km from me, at least once a week.

I think I'm learning how to be a better long distance friend by being on facebook. I certainly wouldn't have called all of my friends every week.

I saw that flair the other day and I sort of laughed because of one of my friend's mom had just sent me a friend's request.

Facebook! :thumbsup2 It's not as much fun as the DIS for me at the moment, but I definitely see the potential. :cool1:

I'm hooked too. It's just so easy to communicate people. I'm not one to just pick up the phone and start chatting with someone...we all have so much else to do. But with FB, you can drop a note anytime. And then of course if you're both feeling chatty, you can start the IM thing. And once that happens, forget it, you're on there for hours!

After high school and college it was just so easy to lose track of people. We didn't have email, let alone social networking sites, and everyone was so busy starting their lives and scattering around, it was impossible to keep in touch. I found some really neat people who shared some important times in my life. Now we are chatting like the old days.

I have had both myspace and facebook for three years. I started to like Facebook more when they started adding the apps like bumper stickers, flair and the Fluff Friends. MySpace always got into the apps thing too. I heard somewhere that Facebook is working on allowing bands and singers to have full fan pages with songs that users can add to their pages. Right now on Facebook you can put up a playlist.com player but I rarely see people put them up. I know a few people who have left myspace because they like Facebook more. I have kept both because I have a few friends and relatives who use MySpace and a lot of the people I know from college are more into Facebook and probably a lot of people I will be going to law school with will probably be more into Facebook. The only that bugs me know Facebook and MySpace is the "People You May Know" tool. I do know some of those people from my hometown or through friends but I can't stand that thing.

If DD doesn't like me on there then too bad, so sad. I'm not going anywhere either. She's only 14 and I need to make sure she is safe on the internet.

I would have to join a 12 step program to stop Facebook.!

I'm glad this was posted because I have a question. By the way, I love facebook. It does seem like a lot more "fun" than myspace, on which I also had a page.

Someone tell me this: Back when myspace was all the rage, there were (are?) some parents that were RABIDLY against it, saying it was all pedophile stalkers after their kids. These parents said they would NEVER allow their teens and younger kids to have a myspace page because it was nothing but trouble, and that they themselves refused to use myspace because of its evil results.

So, now those same parents are all over Facebook. What? Why is facebook okay but not myspace? I'm aware of the history of both, so no need to go that route, I'm just wondering if parents who basically told other parents they were horrible for letting their kids myspace are hypocrites, given their newfound love for a different social networking site.

I am addicted to Facebook as well. We need a DIS page on Facebook.

Facebook is a major addiction I've had one for 1 month and a half now and its been a great communication source...
I talk with friends all the time and enjoy myself...
It does get disstracting so I dont seem to spend as much time on the dis as I used to...

Strangely enough I joined today because of the DIS advert, but I don't really get it. Perhaps I am just missing something. It seems all the old friends I want to look up have such common names I can't find them!!! I barely found my dd as there were loads with her name too and had to get her to find me via my e:mail address as my name was too common too!!!

Still its early days and I am still on the DIS
