Facebook Disney wedding site frustration

Ok I'm having issues with the facebook wedding site. First off let me start by saying that I don't have facebook. I"m not a fan of it no offense I know I'm like the only one besides DF that feels this way. So needless to say I'm a bit upset that now I'm forced to use it for our wedding website for the park tickets and what not. So I just signed up for it and it won't let me continue until I add DF name from my "friends list". I can't do this because he doesn't have a facebook. Now what!? Does this mean he has to get one or how can I bypass it. I tried adding his name but it keeps saying something about a drop down menu. Any advice? Also do you know if there's any other way that my guests can get the discount tickets without me having to be on facebook? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there is no way around it. Both people have to be a member of facebook in order for the site to work. My DF is not a computer fan so I had to set him up on facebook and I am still having an issue. Have you noticed that you can not book tickets for 2011 yet. My WP told me not to worry about it but my family is freaking out since we are less then 90 days from the wedding and still no one had any discounted tickets. My fustration level is about to hit the roof!

 Oh man! I'm really not happy about this idea. I guess I'm going to have to do the same. They should have left the other one as an option or have another way for people that don't have facebook. Surely DF and I can't be the only 2 in the world. I'm sorry about you not being able to get the tickets. Did she give you any idea when they would become available?

I'm having issues with it too. I have mine set up, but every time I try to send "invites" to people that are facebook friends, nobody gets the invites. :headache: Going to try to work on it this weekend but I might just throw up my hands and forget it.

Yeah it's pretty stupid, DF doesn't like FB either, so he's not going to sign up just for a wedding website.

You might have to ask your planner about the discounted tickets, as dreamwedding pointed out the 2011 tickets are not available yet :confused3 my planner said they're hoping to release them some time in October, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't understand why they haven't released them yet, they've already done the price increase a couple of months ago...

I'm actually curious if you can buy tickets from another's facebook site. If you would like to try, I can pm you the link to mine (I posted it in a thread a while back if your search through all of my posts ).

Either way, you would still need to download the application, which is where I think a lot of people don't receive the invite if their privacy settings are strict on applications.

I have FB myself but DF doesn't have it as he doesn't like it either. He doesn't want people knowing what he is doing. I asked my planner if I could get around this without him signing up and there is no way. So I wasn't able to do this.

As for tickets, they gave us a website so that everyone can purchase tickets, see our schedule etc. But as stated above they have not updated for the discounted tickets and im a bit confused myself :confused3. When I asked my coordinator she said they would be updated sometime the middle of Oct. It's now getting towards the end. Why can't your guests just go through the website that Disney gave you? Why do they have to go through FB? Im thinking you can do eiter way?

It IS really annoying! But I've found that you have to send invites twice and then once they install the app and click on the invite I also had to send PM's to everyone linking it to the correct page. :confused3

Sign him up for Facebook. No one will know what he's doing unless he types it in and adds it. Set his privacy level so that his name can't be found in a search. Basically, just set up a dummy account.

is anyone else having issues downloading things onto the FB site? I couldn't get the pages to load in firefox all of the way so that I could add our comments. And now in internet explorer, most of them load but not correctly. I'm not sure if i'm the only one with these problems or not.

I have had problems with it enough that I gave up. I tried inviting FB friends and nothing worked. Then I tried adding my wedding party, all of whom are on my FB, and it mysteriously couldn't find them and then timed out. UGH.

I just gave up. It wasn't worth it for me. Everyone can find all the info from my website or can email me if any questions come up. It's all very frustrating also not having the updated ticket prices so nobody can order tickets of the website

What website did they give you? Because I received an email about setting up the facebook account. And when I tried going through the DFTW website about the wedding website it just redirected me to Facebook. If there is another site that would be good to know.

The Knot and other similar websites allow you to create a wedding website for free. You can upload pictures, add links, etc. I'm assuming that's what the PP was referring to.

Above is the website that they set up for us. If they told us we had to do this through FB I would have said no. I thought this was something that was given to everyone. Maybe im confused. :confused3

My DH doesn't like FB and I set up one for him so that I could do the whole "website thing" but I finally gave up. It was too much of a hassle.

I'll have to discuss this with our planner because I don't want to "make" our friends & family to join FB just to get discount tickets and such.

I sure hope I get the DFTW wedding site as an option for my guests.

DF and I both have FB, but there is no way I'm going to force my family to get it just to see my wedding website. It's ridiculous.

They have phased out this DFTW website and are currently only using the Facebook website.

Thanks for the info. Do they have a phone number you can call? Or, would I be able to buy the tickets for my family?

There's only going to be 25 of us total. We'll be doing STDs and Invitations, and most of the updates and planning help will be done in person anyway.

None of them are really internet savvy, and they all think FB is evil.

Supposedly there is a way for non-Facebook members to see your Facebook site and buy tickets, etc. using a link you can send them. But they won't be able to participate in any of the interactive features of your site, like photo sharing and polls. :(
