This will be our first time at F&W, what can we expect, any tips? We did not plan anything special, just going to experience what we can around the park.26 days to go!! Surprise 30th bday present for DH! :love2:

You have picked, in my opinion the best time to go to WDW! The F&W Fest. is great. First thing pick up a F&W Guide at the festival center, it will tell you all the special events going on that day. If you like wine, pay attention to the different wine "talks" going on. You get to try the wine for free and learn a thing or two. Also when you visit the food booths - SHARE - You will get to try more and not fill up as fast! Have a great time! :paw:

Thanks Kabuki! Love wine so I think the tastings will be fun for us!

Item's are priced between 2 to 5 dollars .You can use your room card to charge but sometimes they seem to have trouble with this feature. Bigger bill's are no trouble but excat change get's you out of the line quicker so you can enjoy the food and beverage. Received this tip several year's ago and stick to it.

I agree with kabuki's tips. Last year, there were cooking demonstrations going on in the Odyessy (sp?). We went to a talk about Sam Adams beer and then you get to sample some. We went to the honey area and got to taste honey. A couple of years ago, we got to make our own wine, and they explained a lot about wine. All of these were free. We haven't done any of the things you pay for yet, but we'll get to that sometime. Have fun!

Last year we saw a musical group in Australia which featured a lady with guitar who sang and two aboriginal performers. One played a number of unique instruments and the other did aboriginal dances. It was fantastic. When the entertainment schedule came out for this years F+W that was the first thing we looked for and BAM, they're back again this year. :cool1:

And my kids think I'm crazy, but the dancer dude was named Turtle. In the second Crocodile Dundee movie, one of Mick's aboriginal friends was named Turtle and I swear they looked like the same guy! Maybe this year I'll get the guts and ask him!

Oh yeah, and there's lots of great food and wines to try. I would just say, be adventureous in trying the foods. Some of the best ones are the ones that don't look or sound good.

All great tips! Looking forward to the F&W and MNSSHP!!! And DH 30th bday! 26 days until we leave and I can spill the beans and tell him!! :Pinkbounc Keeping this surprise is killing me!! :rotfl:

This is my DBF and my favorite time at WDW. We have gone the past 2 years, going this year, and already have plans for going next year!

1. Like it has been said before. Take plenty of $1's. But we also take a few $5's. It's easier on your billfold, and it's easier on the CM. It's easier to grab coins instead of bills being in those booths.

2. Go during the weekdays! We always go Tuesday (from Mexico to America) and Wednesday (from Cananda to America). It's not as crowded as the weekends. If you only want to do it one day...pick Tuesday thru Thursday.

3. If you can only go on the weekends, Go early! It opens at 11:00, and we were able to walk right up to the booths. I know 11:00 sounds early, but it's my normal lunch time at work anyway.

4. Try to get the menus of the booths from the internet before you go. We always get a little plan of what we want to try before we go.

5. If you were able to look at the menus before you get down there.....look at the food display before you order! My DBF was dying to try escargo. He didn't look at the display, and well, the green sauce turned him off at first look, but he tried anyway.....after three chews :scared1: he was so sick. Thank goodness for Japan and their shrimp rolls.

6. Listen to your taste buds and your stomach!!!!! You will hear on here, these wonderful "not to miss" foods. That is someone else's opinion. Your tastebuds, nose, eyes will not steer you wrong!

7. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival. First trip, DBF and I ran from booth to booth....missed so much. Relax and enjoy!

8. Enjoy surprising your husband!!!! Congratulations on being able to keep it a secret. I had a secret trip planned for DBF for the first week in Jan next year....lasted maybe 2 hours and I had to tell him.

I hope some of these are helpful....have a great time, and save some food for us!!! :rotfl2:

When is the first day? Cant wait to read the menus and reviews!! I hate that the only workable day for Epcot is Saturday!! But we'll get there early, and enjoy the music, and atmosphere!!

Thanks for all the tips!! :moped:

:confused3 Thanks for all the great information!! I think we will hit it on a Friday. That is the day that works for us so we will make due with the crowds. The booth info will be posted on WDW site or something like all ears or here?

We are going Sept. 25- Oct. 1 so we will have to go Friday, the 30th. We have never been and had NO idea what to expect. What time do the bands start? How does it work, do the countries set up booths outside?? hmm :confused3

I didn't see this mentioned, but I think this is not to be missed.

At least one day - get to UK pavillion as early as you can in the morning and reserve space for a "Great Beers of the World" tasting.

This is just a heck of a lot of fun, and an event I never miss.

Jennygt,

Friday during the day is a great time to. Please don't let me suggesting going Tuesday thru Thursday worry you. Who knows, your Friday maybe not that crowded! Disney Magic! I know for sure on the allears website they post booth info as quick as possible. I'm sure this website will do the same also. Like I said, enjoy yourself. The one thing my DBF and I enjoy doing is just strolling, smelling, taking it all in. Have a great time! Please let us know how surprising your DH went. I'm so excited for you!!!! :cool1:

Justplaingoofy (absolutely love your name!!!!! :goodvibes )

Okay, my last sentence sounded...well stupid... :rotfl2:

What I meant was, don't worry if you planned a weekend visit to F&WF. Y'all could go and walk straight up to the booths, and not see a bit of a crowd. I've only been twice, so I'm no expert. I know the true experts are out there (watching me dig myself into a hole...LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ). Just trying to help.....

Okay, can someone drop me a ladder....this hole I dug is pretty dern deep

Chris :teeth:
