Eye-opening experience this week...

I don't like CCs. However, I have a debit card that I ask merchants to put in as a CC and I get points for everyday living. Even my son's private school allows us to pay by this card and I get his tuition points. I'm up to about 25,000 points - soon I can redeem them for first class tickets or a new TV or something.

I used to do this with AMEX. We've gotten a home entertainment system, and a great SLR Digital camera with my points, but AMEX has no mercy for the one who has a balance.

That's why a Visa Debit Card is so great. I only spend what I have in my checking. And the float is about 4 days to reach my account.

I tend to agree more with DisneySteve. I buy what I NEED, NOT what I WANT and put the purchases on a credit card which is paid off monthly. I keep track of what I'm spending monthly and it's no more than I would have spent if I had paid cash. What is more though is the over $800 in Disney Reward Dollars that I'll have by next summer when we take the family to WDW. By paying cash, I wouldn't have had those reward dollars
