I hope what IM trying to ask is clear lol! I am wondering about the balconies on the extreme aft rooms of the ships- are all decks created equal? Do the aft rooms on lower floors have a longer deck than say 10 or is it the other way around? I am trying to figure out the size of the balcony on a certain aft room! Thanks!!

You must be from NCL.

lol

All aft balconies generally are the same depth unlike NCL BA/GA.

DCL discriminates less regarding aft balcony depth than NCL.

Center balconies aft on DCL have more width.
Those are the coveted ones. Center aft on 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 maybe, on Dream Class.

Corner aft balconies wrap around too, which tend to be larger in there own way.

You may want to review category 7a 5188 and 5688. They have small aft balconies.

You want deck 7, 8 and 9 aft on the Dream and Fantasy.

Depending on ship, you may feel more or less vibrations being aft. Fantasy more. Dream less.

Some pax on 10 aft hear noise from the buffet above. Some don't.

Good Luck

Avoid category 7a 5188 and 5688. They have small unusable aft balconies.

you literally just made me LOL!!!!!!!!!! Im cracking up!! I am NOT from NCL lol but I took an NCL cruise in an AFT room and i LOVED the huge long deck and remeber that when we were planning, it was a BIG DEAL to look for those certain floors because the AFT balconies got bigger (or smaller, i cant remember it was that long ago) the higher you got!! Thats why i was asking this question lol and you knew it!!

So I was looking at the Dream room 6188 which (appears to be) a corner aft room- i cant find a video for this room to see the deck but I found the same room location (just higher up) and the balcony was huge! I was basically wondering if I could expect the same size even though it is 4 levels down. I was also hoping to see if there was anywhere to find out the length. Thank you again for your help and for the laugh!!

I've heard that the aft verandahs can sometimes accumulate soot from the from the exhaust stacks. No idea if that's even true, but it's been on these boards a few times.

We love aft cabins (Cat 5E). We prefer deck 10, higher the better and center of the ship on the Dream class. We never hear noise from Cabanas but we are early risers and bring a white noise machine with us for sleeping. You will get some vibration in the aft cabins so be aware of that. I grew up on boats so the motion of the boat and slight vibration don't bother us and we really don't notice it. Also there can be some soot on the balcony depending on the wind.

Minimal amounts usually depending on a few factors. Less in the middle of the ship, more in the corner rooms. Such that I didn't want to go out in my bare feet, but I'm a clean freak like that.

Avoid category 7a 5188 and 5688. They have small unusable aft balconies.

Unusable? That's funny.

On my first cruise I've had 5688 as an upgrade (because I booked an OV that was GTY)... DH and I are childfree and found the verandah to be perfect for us. It did the job. I also appreciated having a gigantic Mickey under my eyes.

Then, on our second cruise, we booked a 5E GTY and they gave us a gigantic verandah (9670: it's a reassigned handicaped room and it has one of the longest verandah). We liked it but if we had to book a balcony again, a (cheap) 7A like 5688 would still be perfect for us.

:)

We were in Dream 6188 in November!! The verandah is larger than a room on the sides of the ship, but it is not the largest of the ones on that deck. The room right next to us had a very deep verandah. We were a party of 3, and we had plenty of room for 3 chairs and a table. There was not a lounge chair, but I bet you could ask for one. There's only room for 3 to sleep.

We loved being back there. It was quiet. The elevators were never full. It was easy to go up/down stairs to other levels. One thing we didn't like is we never saw our room steward. We met her on the second day, and that was it. I think her rooms began with ours, then went down the rest of the far aft rooms and then up the starboard side. We never went up the starboard aisle since our room was on the port side, so we just never saw her.

The vibration was easy to get used to; it didn't wake us, but we definitely knew when we were booking it through the seas. LOVED watching Castaway Cay disappear as we left the island.

Unusable? That's funny. .....

Glad you enjoyed said balcony.

I'll admit it is cute and has a custom bench, but some would prefer to know the size prior to booking/debark.

I truly was not trying to diminishing the balconies of 5188/5688, just pointing out their characteristics.

Although after review, you are correct.

Those verandas do have one of the best aft views available and they are closest to the water.

I'll admit poor word choice describing 5188/5688 balconies.
I edited my PP.

Thank you for pointing out my obvious error in language.

I apologize.

My Bad :o

Is my edit acceptable?

It's perfect. I can understand that the "value" of that verandah wouldn't be the same in somebody else's eyes but for us it was an upgrade that we did not expect and I cried tears of joy when I realized the room that they assigned had had a tiny balcony. The Mickey was extra pixie dust.

And yes, the views were amazing.
