Extra Magic Hours: To Go or Not to Go

We'll be there for 5 nights and I have heard that EMH actually make the parks more corded because every resort guest goes to that respective park on that day. What is everyones experience? Right now our plan doesnt involve any Extra Magic Hour parks.

In 6 days we will be at CSR!!! We are not planning any evening EMH, and only 1 morning at AK. Those parks tend to get too crowded for us.

I think it depends on where you're going. We're going in the off-season, and since hours are shorter we're going to take advantage of EMH. Even if we only get to go on ToT at night in MGM, it'll still be cool to see the park at night. As for the morning ones, I think that if you can get there at the beginning to take advantage of them, and then be prepared to park-hop by 11 or so if it gets crowded then do it. Just don't go to an EMH park after EMH is over.

We were there last week, and did evening hours at MGM and Epcot. At MGM, crowds were very low, and we had a great time. Epcot the crowds were a bit bigger, but we were still able to ride both Soarin and Test Track with Fast Passes and left about 11:30. Didn't attempt MK.

If it's not crowded, EMH can be okay. We went last month and didn't need to use the morning hours because we were able to walk on everything if we showed up around 9-9:30, but we used the evening MK once and it was great. It was nice to spend the evening at MK instead of Epcot or DTD every night.

We went to MK not realizing they had EMH that night (until we were told to get a wrist band). We had a great time. Not crowded at all. Walked onto most rides. We left early (around 10) because that was our first day and we were pretty tired. We really enjoyed it but that might have just been a fluke because the rest of the week the parks were pretty crowded during the day (9-28-10-4). We didn't do anymore EMH.

We did morning EMH at Epcot on Monday and it was great, we got a lot done. We did MK EMH on wednesday night and almost left. The crowds are misleading. It was so busy and there were long lines for wristbands, but we had promised to take dd on Space Mountain so we stayed. I'm glad we did! At about 9:30 or so it really thinned out. I think it just seems so hectic because everyone is waiting in the wristband lines together and other people are heading for the gates to go home, but we pretty much walked on to everything after 9:30. We left at 11:30 because we were really tired, but the park was empty by then.
