extra legroom seats on Jetblue question

Has anyone had experience upgrading their seats on Jetblue once at the terminal? If there are empty seats up front do they sell them? Not sure if they are worth the cost so debating it and wondered if they sell them last minute to those who may want to upgrade. thanks!

I don't know anybody who's tried (includin me), but I've also never* seen those seats full. One thing i do know, Flight Attendants will not let anyone unauthorized sit in those seats. What's the charge?

* Sorry, once. Flights had been weather-cancelled the day before, so my plane wss FULL.

They will sell them at the counter or gate, but they are typically not discounted from what is posted on line.

I have seen them sell them at the gate and on board when there is room. But it is worth getting them in advance as the Even More Seats also get you Even More Speed. If you don't have Pre-Check JB lets you skip to the front of the regular security line. You also get early boarding. If you wait until the terminal or on board you miss on one or both of those benefits.

good point! I am in bill paying and budgeting mode so wasnt able to splurge when we booked but now am thinking about it for the departing flight from BDL to MCO. Can't afford to upgrade both directions, wish they werent so pricey!!!

Most jetblue planes provide extra legroom - more than typical airlines. 34" pitch, which is the distance from the back of a seat to the same point on the seat behind it.

i would stick with that for the trip down, then if you weren't comfortable or expect to be exhausted, splurge on the way home.

we have flown Jetblue many times, this is our first trip since our Disney Honeymoon in 1997 that we are going without kids. I was just looking for a little splurge to sit in the larger seats, get to board sooner etc. the return our seats are row 9 so pretty close up, the flight down we are waaaay back After all these years I am not a good flier! Normally we never upgrade stuff like this so that was why I asked if it was an option last minute if they were open. Now I am thinking of just doing it now. Frugal side of me says its a waste of money.... but maybe just maybe it could be a nice way to start off the trip!

thanks for sharing your thoughts, probably right isnt worth the cost! We were looking at seats in row 2 not the exit row seats. Still time to decide there are many up front open! Hmmmmmm

Unless you are SUPER tall (over 6 feet), I really wouldn't bother. I'm 5'3" and can straighten my legs all the way and my shins still don't hit the seat in front of me.

I am 6’4” and I love Jet Blue because I feel like the normal coach legroom is always enough, although it’s even better on the long haul planes that go coast to coast. I won’t fly anything else from JFK to SFO or LAX.

Even I think the extra legroom is skippable.

Just to clarify, the seats aren't any larger. There's just more distance from the back of one seat to the back (same point) of the seat behind it.

On JetBlue very few Even More seats are emergency exit rows that don't recline. Most Even More seats that are emergency exits do not have an emergency exit behind so they are able to recline.

According to SeatGuru:
On the Airbus A320's (both types) there are 7 Even More Rows (1-5 and 10 and 11) and only one row has limited/no recline, row 10.
On the Airbus A321 (non mint) there are 7 Even More Row (1-5, 10, and 23) and they all recline
On the Airbus A321 (Mint) there are 7 even more rows (6-10, 18 and 19) and they all recline
On the A321neo there are 7 even more rows (1-4, 16-18) and only one row has limited/no recline, row 16.
On the E-190 there are 4 even more rows (1, 12-14) and they all recline.

thats what I am doing now, watching to see how many of those front few rows of extra space seats are left. I may or may not spring for them to get ourselves out from the back of the plane.
