Extra Fastpasses: A Case Study

With the OP being able to have success with FP+ a MK, it appears for that Park at least for the normal family of 2-4 there should be minimal problems. Now my question is has anybody tried with a larger grou say 10-12. With that the individuals are different ages and the 4th FP would be different as the group splits to maybe two groups of 6 in the park. Not only that the first 3 FPs maybe different as well. ANother words how easy will it be for somebody to get different sets of 4th FPs for different members of a Group. Older kids may want Space MTN while younger kids may want to do Barnstormer. I am asking because long range I am planning a trip and this could easily be the scenario.

It's just perspective.

It's NOT still possible to get a FP for a mountain in the afternoon like it has been for the last 15 years. Pirates has always been the ride you go to as you waited for your FP window to pass.

-Jason

Of course it is.

You just don't have to walk all the way over there to do it.

We could go back and forth all day. I wasn't really a huge pro-FP+ guy because I had mastered the old system but I was optimistic anyway. Now it's here and I can see benefits for sure, and now it is getting better.

I tend to be a glass half full person so I'm ok with it, as I suspected I would be.

and I will really enjoy not having to do the "enter epcot, run to Soarin for FP run back to TT to ride" routine. that got old. (what is that...like a 5K speed walk? lol)

Whoa, nice work-what were you drinking? :surfweb: :wizard:

Nothing - just considered that 50% of guests used FP-.

Math has its place, but this is, was and will always be about adaptive and responsive behavior.

I would think anyone who has been to Disney would get that.

Great news here.

Next improvement that needs to happen is to allow scheduling of 4th FP+ with a smartphone. Those with hoppers should also have the ability to book in an additional park.

It's NOT?

I don't know all the details, but he mentions rain as being why all those FP were available.

I hope you aren't trying to justify the advantages of FP+ with a rainy day in a dead season's crowds and FP availability?

I didn't do it obviously, but every time we got extra FPs yesterday, each time it (or the CM) asked for who, which suggests to me there exists some ability to split things up among larger groups.

Is a '5' considered dead season? I'm good with that because we go in October during a time that is also pegged as a '5'. If that's considered dead I really feel bad for those of you forced to go during a '10'. Oh the painful experience that must be...

Thanks. I believe you just answered my question if the CM or kiosks asks that question.

So, apparently you were just using FP+ extra passes to solve a problem that was created by FP+. For Pirates and JC to have a 35 minute wait in early May on a Monday is positively extraordinary. And it makes me weep for the future of that park.

I think in the MK, there is enough capacity on a slow day that FP+ can be taken advantage of for lower tier rides. The other parks simply don't have the capacity, period.

Well, I come here every year at this time, and there are always meaningful waits in the afternoon at MK for everything, even on a slow day, which is why I usually leave to come back later. The Pirates wait may have been a little long, but Jungle Cruise was not surprising in the least to me.

We are there for Independence Day this year. I'll get back to you on that :) (A former super user)

Thanks! I'm excited to find out. Haven't done a Christmas trip in forever and am hoping we will actually get to ride everything we want

Maybe we should hook you up with Jimmy V.

If that was the original plan, why would they put kiosks in the parks to allow guests to make and change FP+ reservations if they knew there wouldn't be anything to give out?

Unless they make having a smart phone a condition of admission, they needed kiosks for something. Not to mention the guests who have a phone malfunction or drained battery.

Replace with "positive" (we want even more).:thumbsup2

:upsidedow

Yes, I hear they often remove posts on Facebook when they become too numerous. ;)

And of course, in the unlikely event that the app fails .... ;)

We haven't done the summer but we are former spring break/Easter week visitors so I have some idea of the crowds we will be dealing with. We are there 3 weeks this year so it will give us a good indication of variations in the system as the crowds change over the course of that period.

But, if all of the FPs have been distributed in advance, what difference would it make?

The argument that Disney did not anticipate having any same day FPs available simply does not make sense.

I was referring to the purpose of the kiosks in the parks.

Right.

If, as has been argued, Disney did not anticipate having any FPs to be available for same day distribution, what would you do at a kiosk in the park except maybe confirm your times?
