I really was not in the mood for any photoshoot so I just did my best and slapped on a black dress because I really didn't want to wear anything binding or frou frou. My sister took one look at me and asked why I wasn't more colorful?!?

Hi everyone! I've been absent but that's because I was in Hawaii for two weeks! A week spent at Aulani and then another week in Waikiki, all on the island of Oahu. It was so nice to be back in Hawaii again, it's been 5 years since we were last there and we used to go every year! Here's some pictures from our trip.
It's been 10 years since we first stayed at Aulani, the first time was the year it first opened, so it's only fitting we're back for it's 10th anniversary.
We got a regular hotel room for the first 5 nights then got to use some DVC points for a studio on the last 3 nights. Here's the hotel room:
We had breakfast with characters at Makahiki! You get to take a picture with them first before being seated.
We visited some beautiful beaches. This was on the North Shore:
But we loved coming back to Aulani. This was taken in front of the restaurant Ama Ama (which is unfortunately closed right now):

Aulani is on the west side of Oahu so you will see some some amazing sunsets. We had the pleasure of watching this almost daily for a week.
The pools are amazing and the grounds so beautiful. My only concern is that the rooms are beginning to look dated (like no built-in USB ports, frayed carpets and minor stains, etc) but I'm sure a nice little refurbishment would do it well. Also the food sucks at Aulani, not gonna lie. It is overpriced, of course, but I'd be ok with that if it was tasty good food but there are so many better places to eat in Hawaii that after our one mediocre breakfast there we decided to eat most of our meals elsewhere and/or bring takeout to the room. It was a much better decision and I was happier as food is such a big part of our vacations!
We spent a lot of time eating at the four seasons next door too LOL, their food, although pricey was much better!

And our favorite little cafe next door to Aulani is this little chapel-turned-cafe called Cafe Ko Olina Place of Joy. Tremendous food, we brought it back to the pool or to the room or sat by the beach, it is so good!
You had to pre-order this box of sashimi but it is amazing:
The drinks at Aulani were pretty good though!
So that was our lovely week at Aulani. We moved to Waikiki after that and both our moms flew in to join us. I think they had more fun than us!
They are both widows - we lost our dads in the last few years and this was their first real vacation in a long time so they were really excited!
We went on a hike! Twice! My mom, who has trouble getting in and out of a car managed to walk up the Makapu'u lighthouse trail twice in a week! She liked it because the trail is fully paved.
We ate more good food!
If you haven't had Leonard's malasadas (Portuguese fried donuts), you haven't lived!

It was the most amazing two weeks! And now we're back in the cold north east. Sigh.
Hopefully we get to go back to Hawaii next year!
Back to my sister's TR next!
We’ll have to try Katsunori next time and definitely also that sashimi box. Hopefully we’re back next fall, too!
