Extra Bun

It must be nice to have such perfect children.Sorry to burst your bubble but all children even well behaved ones whine.

why thank you, it is! i'd be having a serious hissy fit with one of them if they were having a temper tantrum over a burger. at that point a nap or time out is in order.

pity. sharing is one of the first character traits we deal with. and besides, we aren't talking about sharing the treasured toy or ice cream. we are talking about a burger.

I think you need to read your quote in your sig. ;) Maybe it's time to move on and stop slamming folks for buying a bun :)

lol, i guess that being raised by a single mom had its benefits. sharing was assumed, not something she begged of us, bribed us or beat into us. she was an awesome mom!

If you want two sandwiches, you might as well order two sandwiches, imo. but someone is always trying to find a way to bypass or save a buck.

I do this proudly! You are paying for the bun, not stealing it, right? If you ask for a bun and they give it to you, everyone is happy..I don't see why anyone would care.

There are only 2 ways to amass money, earn it or save it. I stretch mine as far as it will go! :thumbsup2

I wonder if they take $3 off if you ask for the burger without the bun. Might be worth it to bring your own, good tasting ones, if that were the case. :cool1:

lol, you all are right. it isn't a big deal. it is merely a conversation where i think differently than you all do. buy your buns, enjoy your trips.

i'm still thankful for a mom who expected the best of us, and i will still expect the best from mine. and buy them their own food...

Is all the hullabuloo b/c people want to use one CS credit or is it about saving cash money? :confused3

If you're going to get drinks with your meal, getting two kids meals is more economical and everyone gets their own bun for free. EVen the cheapest adult combo is $6.59 and two drinks are $4.38. That's 10.97. A kids meal, with a drink and two sides(you can get double french fries) is 4.99, so two for 9.98 That's what we buy when we do CS.

I also thought that not all counter service places have kids meal hamburgers now since they changed the kids meals to healthy? Buying a doublecheeseburger and extra bun might be an option if your 2 kids want hamburgers but the CS doesn't offer that.

I don't know exactly since my kids are too old for kids meals.

My kids share everything. So yes they whine when they have to share food on vacation. Why would anyone care how I choose to deal with it? :confused3

The youngest are just shy of 4, 5 and 6. I cut them slack on things like that and I'm firm on others. Food is not my hill to die on but it is a slight battle that I fight. ;)

I was thinking the same thing! Why do people care so much!!! :confused3 It's not their money, or their kids. My kids share everything, but they do NOT like to share food. Come to think of it, neither do I! ;)

Good grief. Yes, we tell our kids to share, but NO ONE is perfect and NO ONE has perfect kids. If you think so - please post pictures of them performing miracles and walking on water.
Not valid proof. A perfect person would have the humility to not 'show off' perfection with gaudy displays.

As far as sharing - we tell our kids to do it, but how many of US do it. If your neighbor asked you to share YOUR stuff, would you? Lend them your car for a week or two, let them help themselves to your fridge, borrow money, borrow your iPod/Blackberry/laptop for a month?
Not the same at ALL. Splitting a burger vertically down the middle equates to loaning anything to anyone how?

Absolutely. But complaining about the price of the extra bun? Not so much.

I don't care if you want to buy an extra bun-just don't get whiney when Disney jacks up the price because everyone is trying to get a free meal.

If I was bringing an extra bun with me, I would just add sandwich stuff in the middle of that bun, eat it and bypass the CS altogether.:)

I never understood the saving of credits either. We always have credits left over at the end of our trip that we spend the last hours at WDW trying to spend them.

I do kind of have to agree with that. It probably started out with a CM trying to be nice offering some frazzled mom an extra bun, and turned into thousands of people wanting an extra one. As long as it makes financal sense for you to order an extra bun, go for it. But don't be too suprised when Disney decides to charge $5 a piece for them.

From the sounds of it, my family would probably shock a lot of you. Sometimes we don't even bother cutting the burger in half. We just take bites if we want them. But then we share our sodas too.:drinking1

See how rules change as we grow up? It's not sharing anymore - it's loaning. Share your car with your sister or your friend or whomever, it doesn't matter. We tell our kids to share their prized possessions and not whine about it, yet we don't do the same. If we do 'loan' or 'share' or whatever with someone, we worry about it until we get the item back, wondering what condition it will be in, etc.

And it's not about the burger - it's about sharing in general. Kids have little toys, adults have big toys.

Loaning and sharing are two very different things. You are trying to say they are the same, but they are not. You adult comparison of sharing should be cutting a car down the middle, in order for it to be the same. I think most adults would not have a problem cutting a burger down the middle.

Not that I really care if someone buys an extra bun or not. But for some reason you are taking it personally.

I could see my husband sayin, 'honey, if we're THAT broke, we shouldn't be here to begin with.' I'm frugal at home but whew, glad I can feel comfortable getting each person their own sandwich. This is what? a 5 or 6 dollar savings each day, total? Over the top.:confused3
That is exactly what my DH just said to me. I figure the kid's meals at CS places are a steal in that they include sides AND a drink. My kids are thrilled to get their own soda since they normally get water when we go out. (Just don't like all that sugar on a regular basis.) If you don't think they are a good price, go visit Legoland! Now that is some crazy expensive counter service. And it's not very good either!

If it were my neighbor, no I wouldn't care to lend it to them. A close friend or one of my sisters? In a heartbeat. For my sisters I would do it without a second thought. HOwever, yes, my kids might whine if they had to share a burger. Wouldn't have any basis for my decision, but they might well whine about it.

We can hang out together. We ALL share a bottle of water or two and a popcorn on regular occassions in WDW. Dole Whips too. We want to try the yummy stuff and have lots of variety so we share it. Turkey legs, funnel cakes, We have even been known to split Mickey bars.:thumbsup2
