Whether any of us agree with ordering a second bun was not the original question; why does everything have to turn into a DIS debate? Anyway, for what it's worth, I suggested to my sister a little over a year ago that she order a double burger at Backlot Express for her and her son to share because(A)he would probably only eat a few bites, and (B)he would make a mess with a double burger cut in half. Imagine my embarrassment when I was told the bun would be $3!!! She ended up just ordering another burger(without the fries and drink), and he did make a mess with it while eating less than a fourth of it. We first learned of the bun trick when my son was 8, and we were at Liberty Inn in Epcot ordering lunch. My husband commented aloud how he wished they offered a kids hamburger because that's what our son always wanted. The castmember asked if anyone else was going to order a burger, and said that we should just order the double burger and add an extra bun(which was very cheap in 2001). We had never heard of that...Brilliant!! I have personally never thought Disney's counterservice food prices were excessive for theme park fare, but I wish they would offer more choices in the kids meals considering the number of kids they serve each day. And as for everyone's comments about kids whining about sharing...I am 42, and I hated sharing anything with my siblings when I was little. Of course, I did when my parents made me(spanking was accepted, beating was tolerated back then). If all it takes is an extra bun(that is not good and will fall apart) to cut down on the mid-day whine, I'd buy one. And I would check here for the price before I left! Happy new year!
