Oh it seemed EARLY to get up for the character breakfast, but we all made it with time to spare. I had read what an assembly line it was so I was ready--niece #1 was a little irritated that she had to sit next to niece #2 for the first time all week since all the kids had to be on the same side of the table, but she adjusted. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Goofy. Goofy kissed my mom and she giggled like a little girl, which truly warmed my heart. We got a photo of them, plus bought one of Dad with Pluto. It was a lot of fun.
After breakfast the kids couldn't get to the clubs fast enough! DH wanted to go to the adult pool so we did for a while. It was really nice and he even got to do some laps. We didn't have anything structured planned. In fact DS was in the clubs from 9AM to 5:15 today. Mom had a facial Tuesday so we had the spa out of our systems. DH and I had promised the DVC rep. we'd go the sales presentation today and plug DVC for her, which we did. I can't believe points are now $95 each!
When we bought BWV in 2000 they wre $67, then I think we got our VWL points for $75.
After that we went to the seafood buffet where I loaded up on shrimp again. MMMMM! I then took DH to the aft deck 7 verandah which I had just discovered. Boy is it cool and totally deserted! I think if we ever do a cat. 6 or 7/11 combo on a future trip we'll try to get close to this overlook. Even if we got two cat. 11s, we could at least go to this overlook when we wanted some fresh air!
That afternoon Sis, BIL and I did the galley tour. I had JUST gotten a Bahama Mama from our pal Susan the drink server on deck 9, where DH had gone with Dad so Dad could do his exercises. They were 2 for 1. I couldn't take it on the tour so I had to chug it
. Oh well. DH just couldn't say no to Susan! He even got ANOTHER big beer mug for Dad, this one with the ESPN logo instead of DCL.
The galley tour was very enlightening. Did you know your servers can't bring out the main dish until they've taken back all of the appetizer plates? And there is a photo of each dish on the bulletin board so the prep guys from 22 different countries know what it needs to look like--each one MUST look the same (trust me, dad got an appetizer that night and the scallops were missing and Ronald was mortified, promptly brought a whole plate of scallops and the head server came over to placate us, even though we weren't even upset!) The pastry chef was making awesome things for that evening.
I was trying so hard to avoid bingo, but after the tour I was at the pool with DH and heard an announcement for it and off I went. I threw away $35 on a ticket and got nothing. The last woman won $6000! That is two trips I've gone to the last bingo and just wasted my money. One old lady had won 3 times on this one trip. Hope she's happy at home spending her cash, probably on more bingo!
At this point I went to get DS--one of his friends told him "just tell her you want to stay", and a CM said "That's OK, Ryan's been with us for quite a while!" Hope that's a good thing! I reminded him that Grandpa wants us all to eat together.
That dinner was totally awesome. It was Captain's Gala. I had the shrimp appetizer and the lobster and the lava cake. Then Ronald brought out a cheesecake to celebrate my BDay--I had told DH NOT to worry about this, this trip was for Mom and Dad's anniversary and my BDay wasn't until July 13 when we were home. Oh well he didn't listen. Ronald insisted on giving me a good luck bite, and I asked him "have you ever seen The Meaning of Life?" Sis cracked up because she knew I meant the scene where the guy has a little after dinner mint and literally explodes. That was how I felt. We took the cheesecake back to the room but didn't eat any of it.
I wanted to see Disney Dreams and went down at 8 to get seats. There were 5 of us to get 7 seats--Sis and BIL were coming later and my parents, DH and niece #1 were not coming. Well I had one guy get really rude with me over the 2 saved seats we had amongst us. They got down there about 5 minutes later. Some people had entire rows saved, but he didn't get rude with them! He walked by me with his child saying "sorry honey, we can't sit here because of these seat savers!" and giving me the evil eye. I know it's rough buddy, but no need to take it out on me!
I cried during Disney dreams when the ship gets pixie dust, and so did my sister, ha ha. After that I went to get DH and we did some shopping, etc. I hadn't wanted to go the ventriloquist show (I'd seen the other guy on Monday) but we went to Rockin' Bar D afterward for the 70s party and could NOT get in! We had gone last year and really liked it, but we gave it up and went back to the room, DS paged us and we picked him up and it was bed for all.
