Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe Guests - Just saw this with specifics

Let the guests decide if they want to use up all their extended time waiting in line. If enough people enter the line, they can just close it to new people. That will also leave the other rides with shorter lines.

The demand for that ride isn't going to go down for years, if ever.
Yeah, I just think if they go that route they'll just do another round of boarding groups.

You would have a MASSIVE queue lined up for EH guests waiting for the switch from BGs to Standby, which would be a crowd control headache. And you would likely have way more than 2 hours' worth of guests lined up before you even started to let them into the internal queue. It's just an unworkable nightmare.

Far more people want to ride it than can ride it. I don't know how many years it will take for that to change. I imagine that BGs are here to stay for quite a while.

Oh I hope this schedule stays! We are doing split stay and are at BWV for mon-weds, this would be perfect. Although we then move to GDT club level which I feel should also be included.

Why were you surprised at Shades of Green? Previous to the new implementation of extended hours, Shades of Green ALWAYS had EMH (Morning and Evening) accessibility. I understand the Deluxe resorts, but for those who sacrificed for our country, and their families - They should at least be able to participate as well <- This response coming from a Proud USMC/USAF vet

Simply because it’s not a deluxe resort.

It has the size and (almost?) location of a deluxe, but definitely misses on that Disney theming. It's definitely a step below Wilderness Lodge or The Poly, but a step above Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans. Is it really that far off Saratoga Springs or Old Key West?

I don’t see it that way. It’s a lovely resort, but I do not put it above any of the Disney moderates. Personal opinion.

I went ahead and switched our park pass days based on the possibility that the Monday, Wednesday pattern will hold. My guess is that it will. If not I can try to change them back. Once I have dining ADR's it will be very hard to change the days, so I hope Disney will confirm these extra hours days before dining opens for those dates.

Yes - agree. But accommodations in the tower tend to be relatively close to the cost at WL if you look for discounts. And, the tower has a club level. I was just making the point that if allowing the Swan and Dolphin that perhaps looking at the tower, especially club level rooms should be considered for this perk. Probably won't happen but would not be a far reach. You can make the distinction electronically on the app/magic band/ticket.
Prices between GDT and AKL/WL used to be close, but not anymore. Look at the prices for October/November. Big difference.

It will be interesting to see the final “deluxe” good neighbor list. It would be a weird outcome if the cheap Sprighill Marriott property got EMH and not moderate Caribbean Beach.

Also weird that this list is missing some obviously deluxe good neighbors, like Four Seasons and Ritz.

Those hotels shouldn't get it. The point of this benefit is to fill Disney hotels. Not competitors.

Well, Swolphin made it. So, apparently the goal is to pay the mouse one way or another, even if they are “competitors.” That’s what Good Neighbor hotels are.

And even before COVID, Disney knew they weren’t in the same league as Four Seasons and Ritz. Excluding them as Good Neighbor 2, while having no real luxury product, would be an interesting choice. It will be clear once we see the whole list of Good Neighbor 2 what is actually going on.

I may be missing something but it seems like you keep conflating two (or maybe even 3) separate things. In the mornings, there will be early entry opportunities (30 min) for each park, and hotels that can access those include select hotels that are not owned or operated by Disney. They include:
  • Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
  • Waldorf Astoria Orlando
  • B Resort & Spa Lake Buena Vista
  • DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando
  • Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
  • Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
  • Holiday Inn Orlando
  • Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
  • Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
  • Four Seasons Resort Orlando
In the evening, people at deluxe hotels and villas, the Swan/Dolphin/Reserve, and Shades of Green, will have access to extra time in a select park on select days (2 hrs). There are no Good Neighbor hotels nor any of the above ones included in this at this time. Here is a list of Good Neighbor Hotels: https://www.wdwgoodneighborhotels.com/

Neither of those lists match the extensive, historic Good Neighbor list (which included many independents, like Margaritaville, I might add.) And interesting the Ritz isn’t on either, as flagship Marriott when Swolphin, also Marriott, are.

My point is that whatever this new EMH list is, it isn’t Good Neighbor, and it isn’t “deluxe” as a consumer would define it. Maybe it is still being negotiated. Obviously, it isn’t intended to be the dozens of hotels like EMH used to be.

This is really exciting to me coming from DVC, snd buying into DVC because of EMH. Excluding the many hotels like Springhill Marriott and the All Stars/pop/Aoa is probably most of who used to be at EMH.

Good Neighbor hotels never really had any benefits. It was just the select Disney Springs hotels that did.
The good neighbor list is massive, but like 95% of them never really had any benefits, other than Disney's approval of being nearby hotels.

Is it just me, or do you find it weird and disappointing that Disney announced extra evening hours for deluxe resort guests and it seemed to be a big news story - then they announced a whopping 4 nights for October of 2 hours each? With no pattern in the nights. Is this a rest run? It seems like if they want to influence more deluxe bookings, they could give us more guidance.

There is a pattern in the nights. They haven't released standard park hours beyond those weeks, so I wouldn't have expected any more to have been announced anyway.

I'm sure that the deciding factor in determining hotel eligibility was which hotels are willing to pay for the benefit.
