Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe Guests - Just saw this with specifics

Eeee! I can't wait to see what the last week of October entails. We'll be staying at YC/BC, so I am pretty excited about this perk.

If I spend the night on a Sunday or Tuesday night and check out on a Monday or Wednesday will I be able to get the benefit of extended hours at a deluxe resort? In the past you were able to use the resort amenities until midnight on checkout day. Like use of the pool.etc. So just trying to plan and prepare for a visit. Thank you
Good question - normally Disney gives you the benefits on your check in and check out days, that's how it's worked for everything else.

I’m curious how this will work too. I’m not going until March so by then we will know more and things could change. To throw another wrinkle in, my plan is a split stay. Checking out of YC on a Wednesday and checking in to a value that day. So even if you are allowed like in the past, it’ll be showing I’m staying in a value that night. Hope to see some reports of people like me beforehand.

I'm checking into AK on Oct 4, so I'm the opposite. We'll be there for the first two Extended hour nights, so don't see us having any issue. You're right, it's the 'check out' one that might be questionable.

I was super excited for this when it was first announced but disappointed in the lack of HS nights. This perk for MK and Epcot might be worth it once Tron and Guardians are open but right now, meh.
I have to agree with this. Frankly Mk hours extended are just ok because we will be at after hours Christmas
party. Epcot for us a non factor. AK would have been nice but wasn't expecting it. HS is very busy now
and will continue to be so that should be included. If anything they should reverse hours between MK
and Epcot. Hubby says they probably want you to stay eating and drinking at epcot.:D

I'm also waiting to see if they are doing anything with Fast Pass for deluxe or for anyone. Paid or
not I would like more info so i adjust/alter plans.

I saw someone post that like Universal it was ok the day you check out. I can't find the post anymore
but remember seeing it. Hopefully more info will come forth.

I wasn't expecting AK considering the animals, but I think they did do after hours at that park before. I feel like HS would definitely be the most valuable park to have EMH at. I am trying to tweak our plans and with the current wait times, it is going to be hard to get all the attractions we want done. I was really banking on EMH. I'm somewhat hopeful they will release HS and AK days in the future, but can't really come up with a reason why they wouldn't offer them right away.

I imagine that boarding groups at RotR make DHS a difficult park to extend -- what do you do with non-EH guests whose boarding group isn't called? would you issue a separate round of Boarding Groups for EH guests only? -- unless you just don't make RotR available for extended hours.

Oh for sure. I had just figured RotR wouldn't be available for extended hours.

It will be interesting to hear reports from the first few nights to see how crowds are handled. It has always been policy that if you're in line at official park closing, you get to ride the attraction. Some of those lines can get quite long and I imagine Ratatouille will be at least a 60-minute wait even at park closing. I really wonder how much of a perk this will be at Epcot?

They may end up cutting off the line after a certain point ahead of closing time, they actually do that sometimes for certain rides.

If you only look at cost, family suites at Art of Animation typically cost as much as a deluxe resort.

I do agree that Swan and Dolphin, and especially Shades of Green, were a surprise to be included.

Why were you surprised at Shades of Green? Previous to the new implementation of extended hours, Shades of Green ALWAYS had EMH (Morning and Evening) accessibility. I understand the Deluxe resorts, but for those who sacrificed for our country, and their families - They should at least be able to participate as well <- This response coming from a Proud USMC/USAF vet

Same with Swan and Dolphin, even in the pre-EMH era when the rule was all Disney resort guests could get into every park an hour early and stay an hour late every day, Swolphin guests got that benefit. In practice they've always been treated as off brand Disney Deluxe too given the Friendship Boats. Way back in the day when they were brand new and Disney briefly had the tram that took Epcot resort guests to the IG (dropoff was where the Skyliner station is now), Swan and Dolphin were on the route. Frankly it would have been weird if they weren't included in this tbh.

I know it's early, but hopefully it ends up being one day per week at all 4 parks. Leaving out the 2 parks with the newest / most desirable rides, would make this benefit much less valuable. Both HS and AK have had after hours events in the past, so it would be nothing new.

Also, with ROTR, it would be easy to run it during extended hours. If your daily group wasn't called by the time the park is set to normally close, then you don't ride. No change from current policy. Just do a standby line for extra hours. Let the guests decide how much of their extra time they want to wait in line.

Disney wouldn't have to worry about the ride being down during extended hours, as it's not a hard ticket event that people paid (explicitly) extra for. Not all attractions are guaranteed to be working on any given day (normal hours or extra hours).

I know it's probably been mentioned before, but this perk not only gets people to stay Deluxe, it pretty much makes you also have to add park hopping to take advantage of it. 2 up charges....

If they do HS and say no ROTR, it will be such a letdown.

We're almost 2 years into this ride.

There are over 13,000 Deluxe/Villas/Swolphin/SoG rooms eligible for EH. Probably 35,000+ guests/night.

RotR can load ~ 3,000 people in a 2-hour period.

Obviously not everybody will went to go to EH and ride RotD, but it's likely still WAAYYY too much demand for that narrow of a time window.

Let the guests decide if they want to use up all their extended time waiting in line. If enough people enter the line, they can just close it to new people. That will also leave the other rides with shorter lines.

The demand for that ride isn't going to go down for years, if ever.

I guess they could like an 8pm boarding pass drop for deluxe guests with HS reservations/parkhoppers? Not sure what the logistics would be like for that. Definitely see them just closing RotR for EMH before they do that though.

I'm not optimistic they will allow access to ROTR (for the reasons you mentioned and probably more), but it will still be disappointing if they don't.

I'll just be happy if they open HS for EMH. ESPECIALLY if they don't bring back fastpass. Right now it looks like trying to hit all the big rides at HS (even without RotR) is a nightmare of wait times.
