Express Unlimited w/1 night on-site stay

We're coming inn on Thanksgiving and staying at the Hard Rock that night before moving to the Vistana for the rest of our stay. Can anyone who's done a one night stay tell me how the Express Unlimited option works since we'll be checking out of the hotel before heading out to the park on Friday. Thanks!

Your onsite benefits last until midnight of the day you check out. You'll have no problem using your room key* at the Express entrances of each attraction that honors it. Not only that, but you can check in as early as you like on your arrival day and leave your stuff with bell services while you use Express that day too.

* I've read recently there might be a new system in place where you get a separate Express pass (using your room key) at a kiosk in your resort. Others here will know how this works better than I.

that new system is in place.
once you check into the hotel, you will go to the kiosk in that hotel for the photo id.
(there is a thread about it with some showing their photo ID hotel cards.)


you take your picture, it prints your hotel ID w/the pic.
that is what you show to use the express lines in the parks.


if you don't like the picture you have taken, you can repeat the process until you have a pic you want on your card.

We stayed 1 night at Hard Rock this past June during a week where we had a room at Marriott Harbour Lake. We checked in on a Monday and checked out on a Tuesday and had Express Pass both Monday and Tuesday. This was before the separate card for Express Pass was in place and we showed our room key. I did notice a couple of times when our keys did not seem to scan on the second day when the ride operators scanned them. But I guess they checked the dates and let us into the Express Pass line. We had club level so did go back to the hotel a couple of times the day of check out to use the club lounge. We were told we could use the club amenities all day the day of check-out. But our keys must have been deactivated because we were unable to get back into the locked exterior doors of the hotel and our keys did not allow the elevator to go to the club level. My husband was able to get a new key that worked through the desk though.
