Can someone explain how a use year works, where it ends and where it starts??? For example right now at SSR I believe it is an October use year they are selling and they say they will add in the points from 2005. So where does that start me off and when would I get new points??? If the use year is October does that mean I need to wait till October 2006 for my next points??? Thanks for the help

Use Year is the month each year when you points will be renewed.

If you ourchase now with an October UY, you will get all points from 2005 and wil lhave another allotment available on October 1, 2006. UY also determines your banking deadlines (6 months to bank 100% of your points, 9 months to bank up to 50% and 10 months to bank up to 25%), but it has nothing to do with when you may make a reservation.

Basically, any points banked into the next UY ,will expire at the end of that UY. Points may also be borrowed into a UY and must then be used during that UY since they can not be banked.

If you purchase now- the 2005 points must be used by September 30, 2006 or banked at time of purchase to be used in the next UY (they would then expire on September 30, 2007). The points available on October 1, 2006 will expire on September 30, 2007 unless banked into the following UY to gain an additional year to use them.

If you will not need your 2005 points for a trip prior to 9/30/06, be sure to bank them for use next UY.

I am interested in this question too, but I am confused by what "6 months to bank 100% of your points" means. Do you mean 6 months from the end of the use year? Or from the beginning?

Thanks!

It's the end of the 6th month following your use year month. For example, if you have an August use year, you have until the end of the following January to call to bank up to 100% of your annual alottment.

If January 31 falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, you'd have to call the previous Friday. MS is not open on the weekends.

Best wishes -

In addition, the banking percentages are cumulative. During the first 6 months, you may bank any number up to the number in the contract. Thru the 9th month (after your UY begins) you may bank up to 50% of your total. If you have already banked 50% in the first 6 months, you won't be able to bank any more later. Thru the 10th month, you may bank up to 25% of your total. No points may be banked during the last 2 months of your UY.

No, you don't have to wait until Oct '06 for your next points. They are already available for use. You can make a reservation 11 months in advance at your home resort and at 7 months in advance at any resort. If that reservation falls in your 2006 Use Year, you would use Oct '06 Use Year points to make that reservation. You can also bank current (Oct '05) Use Year points into your 2006 UY and use those banked points for the reservation. You can also borrow points from the following (Oct '07) UY into your 2006 UY to use for that reservation.

Once points are borrowed or banked into a different UY, they stay in their new use year and will expire at the end of that UY.
