EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

Hi Erika and fellow CL fans!

I have just booked a last minute "quick trip" for my daughter and I. We are staying for the first time at WL CL April 14-16th. I was just reading back a few pages about the cutbacks at WL CL and now I'm a little worried. We are not very hard to please however we do want to have some options......:scared:

Erika please add us when you get a chance.:)
I stayed WL CL for the first time in January and enjoyed the offerings so much I'm going back again in September. I can't speak to the "before" as my first CL stays were all at the Poly, but found plenty of choices and especially enjoyed the hearty hot offerings (Shepherd's Pie, wonderful stews and soups and of course COBBLER!) The dessert offerings were more limited than at the Poly or SL CL, but the cobbler more than made up for that for me. The CL CMs are fantastic and the lounge is lovely.

Hey Ciircusgirl! I thought I posted earlier but didn't hit "send", lol!

Yes dd and I also loved WL CL in January!!

I was there in January also, but the changes to the food were just made this month. So it's not the same as what you and I experienced. :scared::sad2::sad1::sad:

Super sad about this. At this point it seems like every trip I make there are things that are cut back/cut out of the experience. Disney seems to be moving from a culture of abundance to a culture of scarcity.

Got the list updated! :) If I'm missing anyone let me know! :D

Thank you!! I'm kinda sad because my youngest daughter is about to finish her last year of elementary school, so it's SO great to focus on Disney where you can be a kid forever... Seriously, you should see my husband at Disney :)

My youngest is headed to high school in the fall. I'm already starting to feel like an empty nester. :(

Wow, that's tough! I don't even want to think about being an empty nester:( but I'm not saying I want to have another baby!! Some of my neighbors were crazy enough to do that in their early 40s, but that's not for me. My nephews will have to fill in the empty places for me. I'm already going to get the Best Aunt Award at my 5yr old nephew's bday party this Saturday (turning 5) because I got him one of those build your own light sabers from HS when we were there in February. Oh, but I have already told my husband to get ready to increase the vacation/travel budget immensely when my girls are gone. I see a lot of Disney CL trips in my future!!

I so agree - and I think there should be mass emails expressing the displeasure!

Thanks for the responses! I'm on a mission to try every deluxe and CL so we are going to give WL CL a whirl regardless.:) I'll report my findings!

Dd and I enjoyed it more than we thought we would. We have tried CR, Poly and both Gf SL and RPC so we had a lot to compare to!

Both Circusgirl and I were there at the same time and posted pics. Follow the next few pages to see them. Hers are pretty awesome:)

Hi Erika can you please remove me from the WL CL in November - I've decided to give CL a miss completely and have just gone with the deluxe dining plan instead, I've had some lovely CL stays over the last 9 or so years but time to move on, too many changes for my liking.

Hi Erika,
Can you add our dates to the list please?

August (Family trip):
CR, TPV/Atrium CL = 8/12-8/14
Poly Std View CL = 8/14-8/20

October (30th Wedding Anniversary trip - no kids :)):
BC, Garden VW CL = 10/18-10/24

Thx.

Long time lurker but finally decided to join! Information through the forums is tremendous and I have learned bunches!
That being said, I have a question to those who have used the IPO for ADR's. My family (me, DH, DD5 and DD4 at time of trip) is staying at GF CL sugarloaf in October. Last time we went to the world was December 2013 where we stayed at CR. I was unable to get into BOG during our last trip. My youngest is dying to eat in "the beast's castle". It is a must do and a priority. I know there is lunch and now breakfast, but she wants to meet him, so I have to get a dinner. During our 6 night stay, MK has 4 MNSSHP scheduled. I am trying to get BOG on our 4th night when there is EMH.
I have read through many pages and I know that IPO can only do so much. I had an awful experience scheduling ADR's for our last trip so I would prefer them to make all our dining reservations. I'm afraid I/they won't be able to get this one due to all the parties. This one determines most of our other ADR's. Should I let them do it or try to do it myself? Can I let them make all the other ADR's and I take just this one? What happens if we both try?
I received an email from them and I have filled out the paperwork. I'm not picky on a time for this ADR. Can I put "anytime between 4-7"?

Also, I wanted to book BBB for DD's. Can they book that, too, or is that something I need to do?

Thanks so much!

I am also considering cancelling my club level stays because these reviews are confirming what I have noticed over my last three visits. I am lucky enough to live in Florida and visit on average every three months for a long weekend of three nights. I have stayed club level since 2008 and have been a regular visitor since 1974. I have stayed at most of the Deluxe Hotels CL and I now divide my time between Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge. These are my favorites.

I have thought long and hard about this since my last September stay at the Grand Floridian but didn't want to post a negative review and spoil CL for everyone else. But here goes my opinion of CL after many visits.

I always thought that club level was more of a convenience than a luxury. It just does not provide the level of service and the quality food offerings that you receive at a high end hotel. Wilderness Lodge has too much sugar at breakfast. It is in the cereal and the pastries and the yoghurt. They do serve a plain croissant and you can have a nice artificial butter spread with that if you like. Gummy bears and goldfish are not my idea of a fun afternoon snack. They do quite well with the cheese and crackers and some of the salads in the evening but their hot dishes have been terrible the last three times I have stayed. The beef stew was so fatty I could not eat it and the chicken chowder tasted like it was right out of a can. It has been a while since I was served that beautiful Salmon chowder that they used to make. The Grand Floridian has more food offerings but I still bypass afternoon tea upstairs for a reservation downstairs in the tea room. The last two stays I skipped the evening wine and cheese in favor of an early dinner reservation. The wine served in the evening could be better quality and they need to stop serving Bud Light and replace that with some of the craft beers everyone drinks now. I guess the food has not been the reason to stay club level, not for a while now.

The one thing that made it all worth it was the level of privacy but the WL lounge was the busiest I have ever seen it when I stayed Superbowl weekend. At the busiest times of breakfast and evening offerings, there was hardly a table to be found. And this was with some of the south wing rooms out of service. Someone on these boards mentioned that they did not expect to get a seat at the busiest times. Why is that? If you wanted to get your own food and stand around and wait for a table, why not go down to the quick service and do it for free. I don't expect the food to change much unless those that stay CL expect more and ask for it. And if nothing else, everyone should expect to have a comfortable seat in the lounge whenever they need it. A quiet place to get away from it all was what I thought club level was all about.

I love Walt Disney World and visit all the time. I always see great service from the CM's. I always see well behaved guests having a good time. The transportation is fabulous and there is good crowd control at the parks. I am always impressed at how well run this place is. I think that they fall short at Club Level. I have weekends booked for Fourth of July, Halloween and the week before Christmas. If I have concerns, I am going to express them at that time. If things don't get better, I am not booking Club Level anymore.

As much as I love LOVE CL it isn't always the best option. For the same money I just buy my own breakfast, go to a bar like The Tambu Lounge at 5pm for wine and appetizers and get choc covered strawberries or other treat from The Confectionery on Main St USA.

You can actually get more of what you want and not be locked into a time table.

However for my mom and me trips it's still working for me! I am super looking forward to our next CL stay. I figured for August GF in SL is great for pool lounging access.

Also with my orbitz coupon and credit from last trip it was only $66.11 a night to upgrade from GV!!! For that price for us it's totally worth it for convenience! I am also looking forward to seeing the upgraded lounge.

I hope you have some great trips this year catflorida! I enjoy going for holidays too, when I can.

Hi Erika, can you add me for Poly CL, 8/16-8/25? It's my 40th birthday trip with my husband & 3 kids (Disney adults!). We're really excited to stay CL, and to check out the renovation around the Poly pool.

I just caught up on the last week of posts & found the tips on not tipping CL staff really helpful. Although I'll tip Mousekeeping in cash, I'm thinking of thanking the CL staff with Starbucks gift cards--does anyone know if the Starbucks in the parks sell gift cards, or if I should bring them from home?

Here's another question for you CL experts: I am well inside my 180 days, and I ended up making my own dining reservations because I was still finalizing my plans the night before. I ended up with a Be Our Guest dinner reservation at the end of my stay, as that's all that was available at the time. Due to a change in my school's schedule, it's starting to look like we will need to shift our dates a few days earlier, which means I may have to cancel my BOG reservation. I have been looking for a BOG dinner ressie for earlier in my stay, but so far nothing has popped up--I will keep looking, of course. Has anyone asked the CL IPO to "keep an eye out for" a BOG reservation (or any reservation) when it's well inside the 180 day mark, or do they really only do the one try for reservations? I know they have a lot they're doing, I don't want to ask them to do this if this is an extraordinary request.

Hey guys! We recently decided to upgrade our BC GV to BC CL SV (Staying April 20-26). We've stayed CL at BWI several years ago and loved it, so when a BC CL opened we snagged it right away. I'm super excited to see the new lounge and the refurbed rooms! After reading some pages back on this thread, I am a little worried about the view we will have booking a SV. We are a party of 3 so a daybed isn't an issue for us. A full balcony would be nice, but a nicer view would be more important, I think. I've read some posts about dumpster views? Yikes. Any suggestions on a room request to send in? Are there any decent views from a SV room?

I appreciate your thoughts. I think CL is a matter of convenience for us too (like trishadono said). I have heard quite a few reviews on other sites say that food offerings at other places like Ritz Carlton are much better, but we only stayed off site once, and we said we would never do it again. It was still fun, but it was pretty stressful trying to get to the park in the morning...the traffic was terrible! But pretty much, the trip just lost its Disney magic!

We have never tried Wilderness Lodge because I prefer the grandiose feel of the GF. My kids would never go for beef stew type food either. Sometimes we like to stay at the Poly or BC for the tropical or beach feel of those resorts. I have heard people on this thread talking about cutbacks at WL, and the designated CL person in charge of drinks at BC makes me nervous. I do wish they would improve their offerings in CL, but unfortunately, I think they know they have us over a barrel because of their location (compared to the Ritz). I was hoping that the competition of having the Four Seasons so close to MK would make them step it up a bit, but I guess that's not going to happen.

That being said, I haven't noticed much change in GF RPC over the past several years, and we stayed in GF SL before that, and the offerings were the same. And I'm not a beer drinker, but my husband has always been able to get something better than Bud Light. It may not be the best beer (I wouldn't know), but he is always able to get the Sam Adams seasonal beers. I agree with you on the gummy bear thing at snack time. We stayed at the Poly for a couple of days before moving to GF (last October), and they only had gummy bears and wasabi snack mix! Even BC had chips and dip during spring break last year, so that was a disappointment. But according to an earlier post (either this thread or the BC thread), they have added deli meat to BC CL breakfast. So I am trying to stay positive. I guess I'll see for myself at the end of May.

I'm sure if I wanted a full breakfast, better appetizers, etc. I could go get it myself for the same price (or less if in RPC), but I like having it all there for me -no effort. If they do start cutting back significantly, they'd better realize that they risk losing their loyal, repeat customers... But I hope it never comes to that! It hasn't reached that point for me yet, at least. BTW, I was at RPC for Super Bowl weekend too, and I will say that EVERYTHING was crowded the whole time we were there (Jan. 27-Feb. 3rd). We didn't have a problem finding a seat in the lounge, but it was just me and my husband then. If my kids had been with us, we might have been in trouble. I'm hoping that when Avatar Land opens, some of the crowds will go there, but it will probably just bring more people to Disney! More crowds in the parks means more time spent in CL for me, so if they don't keep me happy in CL, I may have to find another favorite vacation spot - Beaches Turks and Caicos is awesome, and it's all inclusive...but also more expensive!

Sorry about the LONG post!
