EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

I am trying to decide if I should borrow points for a 4 night stay the beginning of Sept or try CL with an AP discount. Our family of 5 would normally stay in a 1 bdrm and do a light food shopping for breakfasts, snacks and drinks. We have TIW for dinners. So can you give me your opinions on if CL is "worth" it and if so, which one you recommend? Of course since I am only 2 weeks away from travel I need to make up my mind ASAP!

Financially, club is never worth it (except for the times where AKL club is only slightly more than the Arusha view because of discounts and pricing quirks). Otherwise club is only worth it when you put a price tag on time and convenience and "specialness", all of which have a "cost" of their own. Then it it worth it! We do both -- we're DVC members and also do club cash stays. It's a VERY different experience. We enjoy both. :thumbsup2

For a family of five, if the prices are comparable, you would have much more room in the 1BR.

This might seem like a silly question…Have any of you ever gone to the lounge in your PJ pants?

I'm not a big morning person…..Although in Disney I'm always ready in a jiffy!

I know coffee is available at 6:30, and it pains me to think I'll need to get fully ready just to go get a cup of joe in the early am……I usually have it while I'm getting showered & ready for the day. Just wondering if I'll get weird looks if I go get coffee in my hello kitty pj pants….I'm not into using the room coffee either, I want it fresh & hot - Thanks!

I probably wouldn't do it, but if you're just running in for coffee and running back out, no one will probably notice. I don't think the CMs will say anything to you.

Not sure if this will help but what I do is throw on my clothes I am planning on wearing or sometimes from night before. I walk down for coffee and take back to room. Then when I am ready I shred those clothes, take a shower and redress.

I'm not to happy with my morning hair and no makeup but usually nobody is around or they are also half asleep too:rotfl2:

Nope, never. We tend to wake early, and I go to the lounge to pick up coffees to bring back to the room. (I usually make a few trips.) I always either pull on some jeans or capris, and a t-shirt. A quick brush through my hair, and I'm out the door. I shower later.

I've brought this up a couple times but really have not found any answer to this, hopefully someone on this post can help.. Does anyone have any experience getting access to Club Level when they are not actually staying on Club Level? I've literately received every answer you could think of to this question every time I've asked it so at this point I've got no clue what to expect when I get to the resort. For anyone who hasn't caught my other posts on our upcoming trip, we'll be staying in the grand villa at AKL for 10 days as non-DVC. I paid cash for this room. Needless to say I think it would be nice to be able to access the club level to get a coffee and a snack from time to time :thumbsup2. Does anyone have any experience with asking for access to the club level? How did you go about asking? I think for what I've already paid I don't think what i'd be asking for is out of the question, I just need to figure out how to go about asking this question very politely and respectfully. I don't want to be that guy who comes off like "Hey you better give this to be because I feel like i'm so important!!!!" I'm honestly not that type of person.

I believe CL is specifically for CL guests. They paid that extra $100+ per night to have access to that lounge. Plus, I believe most of the lounges require key access. If you have a grand villa, why don't you just order groceries since you have a kitchen with the room? :confused3

Ah, don't take this the wrong way, but no. Unless your staying and paying for Club Level, your not entitled to it. Yes your paying a lot for a Villa, but your staying at a timeshare, with a full kitchen etc - home away from home. I think if you booked directly through Disney you do get daily housekeeping, but I'm not sure exactly. But as far as access to Club Level, I think not. Unless you book directly into that category, which I think the villas are not.

Last November We got invited by a CM to visit CL at YC as we happen to be in the elevator at the same time when we were asked if we would like an evening snack

But we just returned from a actual surprise upgrade to CL at YC told us at check in that there was a magical surprise and indeed it was fabulous. And yep we got caught by the bug we surely did book CL for our trip in October!!

I agree. The villas are very nice, but they are an entirely different category of room.
Disney offers all sorts of suites at AKL that include CL privileges. If someone wants the additional club amenities, those are the ones to book.

No offense taken what so ever :). To be clear on this though, for us this isn't a timeshare. I actually paid cash directly to Disney for this room. I didn't rent points or anything like that. I'll probably ask anyways and just see what the CM tells me. If it's a no then no big deal.

I get what your saying about the extra money per night, but personally I think this would make more sense to me if I was staying in a room that wasn't about $1000 more per night then most of the CL rooms. We plan on having groceries delivered but for me this would be more about getting some time to myself in the evening to wind down a little with a drink.

I totally get what your saying, but reality is it is the timeshare portion of Disney, whether its 100 a night or 1800 a night. When I first bought DVC we stayed at WL, daily paper at the door, room made up every day etc., then when we bought, I assumed because we bought at a deluxe you would still have those "perks" nope! Recently sold and went back to room only. I think and I would verify the only difference booking direct and not through an owner using their points is you may get daily housekeeping.

I did it every morning last trip. It's not like you are going down in a nightgown or barefoot. I do not think there is anything wrong with going in pj pants to grab some coffee. ☕

It might be worth it to compare the rates for the suites vs villas, just to get an idea. I don't know if you'd do better cost-wise with the suites that include CL privileges. If the request doesn't work out, Victoria Falls Lounge is a lovely place to relax. :goodvibes

Awesome, thanks a bunch for your help. Honestly i'd probably be staying in one of those rooms if I wasn't trying to pack 7 adults and 2 kids in to a single villa. Victoria Falls it is! :rotfl:

The Grand Villa is three times the size of a one bedroom suite. You will have three balconies with amazing views. If I had that suite, I'd much rather sit out on my balcony with a glass of wine or my morning coffee than in a lounge with no view that can get noisy and crowded.

I do the early mornings runs either two ways ...
1. Toss on a over the head dress, run a brush though my hair, put on some lip gloss and toss on my sunglasses and head down to grab fresh coffee
Or
2. Send my husband down since he's up, showered and dressed way before me.

And I 99 percent of the time go with number 2 : ) ... (( yeah kind of a princess thing to do but husband has been a Prince to me for 35 years and actually just brought me up coffee to our bedroom this morning. I'm lucky but I appreciate him )))

*** Ask away ... never a silly question can be asked about WDW or life in general I believe since others may want to know the answer as well, and I'm sure your not the only one who's wondered about this since in life your never the only one : ) ***

Oh I agree with your thoughts ... If I was the poster I would take the Grand Villa over CL for sure even with my tends to be loud family lol : )

Which would you choose for a last minute anniversary getaway for 2 ... WDW trip with 3 nights at GF Sugarloaf or 3 nights on Disney Dream deluxe family stateroom with veranda? No other resort or room categories available, these are the only two choices. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared::scared::scared::scared:

I wouldn't even want to go in the lounge if I were you. You'll have that giant amazing villa to use for your breakfast and snacking. Order groceries to be delivered your first day, we've used gardengrocer many times, they are great. Get some coffee, pastries, snacks, drinks, beer, wine, etc, and you'll be way better off that what's in the lounge, you won't have to leave the comfort of your villa or line up with all the CL guests. You can set up your own buffet!!! ;)
