EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

You won’t get a discount mixing AKV with HHI. HHI isn’t participating in the current discounts so you’d be looking at full price for HHI and then you could get an existing member 100 point discount for AKV. I wouldn’t ever buy more than 100 direct points unless I was getting a crazy incentive.

PS who says buying at HHI isn’t the greatest to buy? If you want to stay there during the times of year when there isn’t a risk it will be cold you pretty much have to own there! It’s not a good resort to purchase with the intent of staying at WDW using its points, but I dunno, it seems like a reasonable pick to own if you want to stay there every year or two.
I am an existing member so will get that discount but I thought as long as you were buying 200 points direct you got the discounted price on the resorts that are listed as discounted? I know I would pay full price on HHI - but you are saying since HHI isn’t one of those listed you can’t combine the points? I know people posted they bought 200 points split at RIV and CCV but I guess those are both listed in the promo!
So my only benefit to buying HHI now direct would be the blue card benefits for 100 points instead of the increased 125 points.

You would have to be in a written contract I think to be locked in to that. If you have not signed anything by then, I think you would be stuck with the new minimum.

Last year, there were people who called the last day and never got the contract processed in time to sign and were no longer eligible.

Very least get signed close to the date so the 10 day window to cancel overlaps. But I’d still confirm with a guide.

The contract will actually have the language written in to it if it states nothing about the new minimum then you should be good. You are right though I would just check but based on what I see on the contract it wouldn't matter when you signed since your legally binding agreement states X points and nothing about some future state of extra points required.

This is pulled directly from the most recent version of the sales contract:
"Membership Extras, such as vacation options in the Disney and Concierge Collections, certain discounts, offers, and special events are incidental benefits. These incidental benefits are subject to change or termination without notice, may require the payment of a fee and cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions. Membership Extras are also subject to availability and block-out dates may apply, including high periods of demand such as Christmas and New Year’s Day. To receive any Membership Extras, purchasers must present a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a corresponding valid photo ID. Effective September 17, 2019, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 100 Vacation Points purchased directly from DVD. Disney and Concierge Collections options are not available for ownership interests not purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. after March 21, 2011, and, effective April 4, 2016, Members who have not purchased an ownership interest directly from DVD will not have access to Membership Extras. "

When you call, can they tell if you have worked with a guide in the past? I got connected and for some reason thought they'd connect me to my guide (like a dispatcher), but the person was a guide, and I didn't even realize it right away. Oops.

I feel guilty using a different guide than in the past, but I don't even know if the guide I used before is still a guide or working right now. :confused3

I wouldn't worry about it. The guides that are working right now are plenty busy - more business than they can handle. And the ones that aren't can't help you and you need to move on. We had a guide we wanted to work with (was a guide of a friend) but he's furloughed and who knows when he'll be back. Appreciate your dedication though - I'm the same way - I like to give credit to those who have helped me... but in this case I'd not stress over it. You have vacations to plan and money to save!

Yeah, added to the waitlist. I only wanted 25 points and they estimated that it wouldn’t take long for such a small amount.
April UY so we were not expecting 2019 points.

Uh oh! I’m waiting on my GF April UY resale contract to pass ROFR and this doesn’t give me warm fuzzies. 😅Lol. No worries though. If it doesn’t pass I think I will switch to a direct contract. I might even go Riv direct or splits with RIV/AKL. My only concern is wanting to know before they change the minimum buy in.

That was my point. You’d want something more than just a verbal say to a guide you wanted to buy. Sorry...I don’t think it came out right.

Sending pixie dust your way! Its such a small amount that I am thinking they can find those points behind a filing cabinet or in the desk drawer of a returning DVC guide. Good luck!!!

You are only able to combine resorts that have the same promotion/incentive on them. So you could buy CCV and RIV and the total points across both would qualify. You could buy PVB, BLT, OKW, SSR, and AKV and combine. But HHI does not have an incentive against it, so it wouldn't count towards reaching a point level for a promotion for any resort that has a promotion. You also, for example, couldn't combine AKV and RIV, as they have separate promotions.

Well, I was originally looking for a 100 point OKW direct December UY contract for the potential blue card benefits (and FOMO) and then down the road adding additional points (130ish) via a resale contract (not necessarily OKW). I’m looking to use as SAPs, but would also be good with staying at OKW. My guide said December UY is not available for the number of points I’m seeking but I can get on the waitlist. Alternatively, AK December UY is available. I’m good with AK for SAP and for using at AK—probably more so than OKW given resort amenities and activities. As I consider AK, I’m starting to look at 150 pts direct vs. 100. My math is coming out that those additional 50 pts will probably cost me $3000 more direct vs resale when I account for the $5 savings on all 150 pts. If I do this, I’d likely hold off on purchasing additional pts via resale for awhile. Purchasing the 150 is definitely costing me more, but it gives me enough points to work with for now, alleviates the headaches that come along with the resale purchase process and, at least for now, means only paying closing costs on one purchase. I’m known for coming up with “Disney math” where I can justify any Disney cost. WWYD?

Thanks - makes sense but doesn’t really work for me then. So now to decide if I want to keep searching for a HHI resale contract with my use year or just buy 100 point direct before the up charge for blue card!

I say go for the 150 now if it works. Given that you start with the 150 from 2019 with a Dec UY, its a good way to give you more than that to use for a few years,

I just did this when I bought BLT, It came with some extra points so I ended up buying 100 instead of the 150 I had sold. So, for the next 4 years, I will bank 50 points of the extra 200 I started with so it’s like having the same thing with less MFs.

Has anyone ever had success in getting a member number assigned any faster with the promise of a direct purchase pending? We’re trying to get in under the wire for the existing member discounts but likely will be contingent on how fast member services can help us out.
Not sure what others know about this, but I was told you have to be a member for 1 year to qualify for the member add on discounts...

My guide called me on Monday. I asked about the minimum points going up. She said right now it is just a rumor nothing is confirmed yet. Take it for what it is.

That’s the first I heard of it. Our guide knew exactly what we were trying to do and made no mention of needing to be a member for a year.

I have not heard this. I have heard that you need to be a direct member for a year to get a 1% better APR if financing.

Weird. I asked about the minimum points on Tuesday and was told it's true and not just a rumor. :confused3

Does existing member pricing ever get leaked in advance or will nobody know until it shows up?

Never had that happen when I first bought,
I don’t think it would have changed our plans and we are happy with our purchase BUT I‘d feel slightly annoyed if I was misled!! Maybe I misunderstood what I was told.
