EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

On the plus side, the guides that ARE working tend to be the more experienced ones so should be able to answer your questions with more assurance and a newbie.

When you call, can they tell if you have worked with a guide in the past? I got connected and for some reason thought they'd connect me to my guide (like a dispatcher), but the person was a guide, and I didn't even realize it right away. Oops.

I feel guilty using a different guide than in the past, but I don't even know if the guide I used before is still a guide or working right now. :confused3

I realize it's often sales talk that the best time to buy is now but everyone on the fence needs to consider the extreme reduction in guides. They're operating around 25% normal number of guides but will still face a normalish slam the week any deadline approaches. So a bunch of people will call next week and there will be fewer people to help. I wouldn't wait until next week. As others here have said, you can stall signing if wanting to see what else comes out in days/weeks after.
I agree! We went ahead & put down the deposit on Riviera today & just waiting to see if the incentives are any better 9/16. I'm really not anticipating them being any better but wanted to leave the door open if they were.

Has anyone ever had success in getting a member number assigned any faster with the promise of a direct purchase pending? We’re trying to get in under the wire for the existing member discounts but likely will be contingent on how fast member services can help us out.

When did your deed record?

Is it correct to say that pre-COVID, VGF often ran a wait list? What about BCV?
I’ve never asked about VGF before. It was a late last minute decision to add on to what we already have. I didn’t ask about any other resort. Sorry

On another note. I found out why I never got a call back. I tried the points tool and provided a callback number after calling the direct line. My guide hasn’t returned so I had to work with someone else. The previous night, I was on hold for several hours!! I asked about that today and was told that they don’t have enough guides working to keep up with demand. They are recalling 40 more guides next week. I’m guessing incentives won’t be better based on my purchase experience. I felt comfortable enough to buy Riviera points and waitlist the VGF points.

Same here! I put a deposit down today and I'll wait to sign. I also think the incentives are going down, but it doesn't hurt to wait and see.

They're definitely going to be busy with people getting in before the incentives change and the blue card minimum goes up.

Mason Title said yesterday they have all the docs and it should close in 1-2 days.
Yeah I know it’s last minute now, but we actually jumped on a resale very quickly (early July) to try to get to this point.

I guess I should add we can do a tour for an extra 7 days on current offers. I still am not optimistic that’s going to be enough time to get a member number.

Need thoughts and opinions on possible purchase. I have a resale contract currently at SSR - with a March use year. We had to rearrange a trip and ended up at Hilton Head - we loved it there. We have been to Hilton Head before but I would love to be able to stay at HHI on a more regular basis. I know it is not the greatest to buy at HHI but I think we would get a lot out of it for our family even for the shorter time frame.
i thought I might grab a small contract resale but I would want to match my use year and I feel like for a 100 point contract I won’t get one for under $75 per point. I think we might use some of the perks AP etc in the future if they are offered and thought maybe I could buy direct.
would you buy direct at HHI only and get a 100 point to get blue card or add on another resort to get to 200 and get a lower price on those also- I just don’t love RIV- Aulani is too far for us on a regular basis- and although I love Copper creek we are a family of 5 so doesn’t seem like a good fit. - I wouldn’t mind AKV but of course the discount is not as good. Thoughts?

I wouldn't count on it. Our deed recorded 6/17 & we had a membership # 7/31. Call & speak someone but I doubt there is much they can do. Sorry! But perhaps the incentives aren't going to change too much next week.

So a couple ideas:
  • Call them and tell them your deed was recorded and would like the current deals before they expire
  • Ask if you can "take a tour" to hold the pricing
  • Ask if you can put a down payment down and they can later adjust the discounting to correctly identify you are a member (once you get the member number)
If they didn't say yes to any of this I would likely just go the down payment route, not sign the contract when it came over, and after I got my membership number go back and say you want your contract corrected to the right pricing.

Thanks. I spoke to our guide today and he said he could try to help move it along but no promises there. He said standard is about 3-4 weeks right now which isn’t good enough for current incentives.
We got the flier about prices going up $7 per point, but no idea what existing member discounts look like on Sept 17.

Our guide said to let him know when the title company forwards to Disney and knows we want current deals. He offered us a “tour” next week to extend already.

How long do you have to return a signed document or ask for a change in pricing, does it fall into the 10 day right to void the deal timeline?

The 10 days doesn't start until you sign the contract since the 10 day cancellation is written in to the contract you need to sign. Also there likely is some limit but not sure what that is. I doubt waiting 2-3 weeks is going to end up with a voided contract and if it did you likely would have been warned well in advance (they want your money so they won't rock the boat to much likely).

Last year, when adding on RIV, I needed to have my current contract changed to add my kids so the RIV contract was the same member number as they were going to be owners on that too.

I was able to agree to the contract and they made a note not to do anything or close it until my SSR contract was set so it could be added,

In your cases, they could give you the member number with the direct purchase, and tell them to make sure the resale gets the same number, I bet they would be able to figure it out for you.

Interesting. Thanks, that’s worth an ask. Otherwise I think we need to stall a little on signing and returning docs.
Wish this was faster/easier!

This is my problem 🤦🏽‍♀️ I have a dec UY. I don’t want AUL (have a sub contract) and don’t want RIV. Ugh what to do 🤷🏽‍♀️

I did the same, too.

What about when the minimum goes up; can you stall into October to see if they change the membership benefits without getting the 125?

You would have to be in a written contract I think to be locked in to that. If you have not signed anything by then, I think you would be stuck with the new minimum.

Last year, there were people who called the last day and never got the contract processed in time to sign and were no longer eligible.

Very least get signed close to the date so the 10 day window to cancel overlaps. But I’d still confirm with a guide.

You won’t get a discount mixing AKV with HHI. HHI isn’t participating in the current discounts so you’d be looking at full price for HHI and then you could get an existing member 100 point discount for AKV. I wouldn’t ever buy more than 100 direct points unless I was getting a crazy incentive.

PS who says buying at HHI isn’t the greatest to buy? If you want to stay there during the times of year when there isn’t a risk it will be cold you pretty much have to own there! It’s not a good resort to purchase with the intent of staying at WDW using its points, but I dunno, it seems like a reasonable pick to own if you want to stay there every year or two.
