EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

I wonder if that is a DVC led or Disney Chase led incentive on the backend.

Also the $1500 was only $1500 right it was not a per point discount so it only worked out cheaper exactly at 250 points?
Right, it only worked out cheaper at exactly 250 (strange?). This is how I was convinced to go from 200 to 250, but I'm glad I did now because we do seem to need this many

No idea if this was DVC or Chase... but I was glad for it

I think even just from Jan to March it went from 95-96% so I'd say by end of year its at 98 maybe faster with the current member offer for CCV. Its the best price since the last increase for CCV right?

It's actually even better than the incentives for CCV when it was $210, which is when we bought. Not that I'm bitter.

I just got word incentives won't be as good but that has been out for awhile. DVC is looking to add some other benefits for members but I don't have any info on what they might be or if they will be worth going direct. AP is definitely coming back when they start selling AP's again - no word on price changes. I listened to the VM three times to make sure I got it right...

Thank you for the information, but you're not helping my blue card FOMO. :rotfl:

Yet another rumor of good stuff coming for benefits. I know another person said their guide was excited about the changes coming.

My guide told me the same thing regarding "exciting" new benefits, etc. Even with Reflections being put on hold, I tend to believe in the long run, not having access to new properties would be something I would regret if I bought resale. I don't like the changes, but that is the reality on the ground when making my first purchase and to me it looks like the tiered or class system is something that won't likely be rolled back.

Question, if you bought resale prior to 2019 when they introduced the restrictions, are you still limited to the L14 resorts?

Supposedly we are grandfathered for contracts prior to (19th?) of January 2019. We snuck in two more resales right under the wire but haven't tested it because we don't care for Riviera. At this point, we don't care about Cali so it is only WDW, VBR and HHI anyway. Do you know if the discount for Military includes veterans (DH)?

Did they say when the benefits would be announced?

I am almost positive Veterans qualify for the $550.00 discount, not sure if they require DD214 or not.

No, just said that he was aware of things in the pipeline other than reflections, no timeline or anything definitive. Felt like my guide was a good guy, but obviously had a bias against resale which is not surprising. Now I'll wait to see if I like Riviera when I see it in person.

"Less than two weeks" which puts it at or about September 16.

Thanks for posting the link. I was scrolling through and saw 17.9% holy cow who would pay that - I nearly choked!

Is the impression that the new benefits are for all direct members or as an incentive for new direct (limited time benefits only for new direct)?

This could be tied into reasoning for raising minimum points for direct. Disney won't make more money, per se, but it could save Disney money by reducing number of 100 point purchasers while also pushing others up to 125. Benefits that are a variable cost per member will ultimately be cheaper when needing to provide for fewer members.

I didn’t think it would be a big deal until I just tried to use my new points from my resale, I wasn’t even thinking and saw RIV come up for 3 of my nights for October,

I got all excited until I got to the screen and the BLT contract wasn’t there and remembered, it can’t book RIV....sorta made me sad thst those are limited.

This has been my experience. Have been interested in DVC for about a year and was hesitant about buying direct because of the inflated pricing vs resale. However, it really seems to me that the tiered system that Disney seems to be putting in place would have me regretting buying resale. I looked at the prices in February and it looked like the best deal for my needs was to buy 175 direct at Riviera. Since Covid, for new members, you get the $15 off per point starting at 150 points, plus a $550.00 discount if you are military. I am comfortable at that price point and the guide I have been working with added a little pressure regarding the September 16 incentive expiration. We are visiting Disney at the end of September and I definitely don't want to commit to Riviera until I see the resort in person. The guide offered that he could lock in the incentive for 30 days, if I put a small amount down ($1500.00) and if the incentives increase after September 16, I am covered, and if they decrease I am covered. If I hate the resort, I can get the deposit back as I won't be signing any documents until October 05. Just a thought for those on the fence, but it seemed like a no brainer to me.
i could have written most of this paragraph. wanting 150 points at Riviera, also get the $550 military discount, had the same conversation with my DVC agent, and i'll be visiting at the end of september and make my final decision.
DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS??
only difference is i am a current DVC member at BCV and currently have one in ROFR for ACV.

The document my guide sent me (link below) with all the numbers on it the fine print states the military discount is for active or retired. but it never hurts to ask if veterans qualify.

I would not count on this at all. I think its actually a terrible chance based on sales data as we move forward and if there is a "better deal" its going to revolve around extra things not a actual discount off the purchase price. Someone brought up APs as an example.

I'm betting on a spike in unemployment and an ongoing recession. The amount of stimulus that has been injected into the worldwide economy is massive and will be coming to an end.
Not sure why you think there is a terrible chance that better discounts come in 2021 just because of sales data from August.

I agree that the economy is going to worsen and I believe a recession is more likely than unlikely. While it effects DVC volume that doesn't necessarily mean that it DVD will get desperate and start discounting with bigger cash discounts that lock in a lower *buy in* price than current incentives.

For example, members currently save $7000 on 200 points to get in for $160/pt. Disney will at some point raise the $195 initial price. If they raise it to $199 and "beat" the $7000 off by offering $7750 off, on the face more off than $7000, but per it's still $32050 compared to $32000, so not actually a better deal.

My point is that it's betting a lot that Disney will give a cash discount more heavily than today before they raise the price again. Maybe they offer other stuff that is enticing, but it may not be cash. And after the inevitable price increase, it's betting that the discount is so high that the buyer pays less than today.

It's not impossible that these conditions could occur and that the buy in price undercuts current pricing. That it's happening now at all, that one can get in for less than any point since 2017, that's proof that it *could* happen at any point, but it feels an awful like like trying to catch lightning in a bottle to undercut again it's best pricing in +3 years.

Does anyone recall what happened during the last recession? It was before my time in DVC and I think BLT was being sold. I did hear that there was a nice Black Friday sale on points, though.
