Experts, need you to give me some odds!

My DH and I were planning a small family trip for January 2006. Now, My mother, sister and her 3 kids want to come along. We aren't closing our DVC points until end of June or early July. What are the odds of us getting a 2 BR somewhere in the world with that kind of notice???

If you are flexible with your dates for January, your odds are excellent. Remember you have Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and the Marathon but besides that, January can be booked pretty late.

January is not very busy. I book most of my vacations between 8 and 2 months out.

You shouldn't have much problem booking for January @ 6 months. We've been to WDW several times in January and the crowds are pretty minimal so you should be able to secure the units you need.

I agree - your chances are excellent. SInce you are willing to stay at any of the on site DVC resorts, I'd say it's nearly certain.

When is the marathon so I can avoid it!

January 7 & 8 is the marathon weekend. Figure even if some folks stretch it out to a long weekend, the busiest time will be January 5-10. And it's no where near as busy during the marathon weekend as it is during school breaks or the summer. Instead of having a 0-5 minute wait for most attractions, during mareathon weeknd you may have a maximum 15-20 miute wait at some of the bigger attractions.

We were actually there during MLK weekend one year, and the MK was so crowded after the fireworks/SpectroMagic parade that they opened some side gate to let folks out. One CM said that that particular day had the record for attendance in the MK. He said there were more people there than had come in for New Years just the week before.
