No, those are walking directions, and I manually set the start at VDH to the back DVC building.

I suspect it feels longer at DLR because everything is so compact and you are walking in a canyon of buildings, vs. WDW where nothing is close to anything and the walk is wide open.
I just measured it as well. I come up with .58 miles from the the VDH to the front gate. My guess: it seems longer because everyone moves so slow through Downtown Disney.

When inside the hallways especially I was feeling lightheaded/dizzy. It took me a bit to realize that it was mostly due to how low the ceilings are paired with the super bright lights lining the halls. Everything felt tight and not spacious/airy. The entrance to the Discovery Tower also made me feel trapped. Essentially I think it triggered some claustrophobia…
I have vertigo and vestibular migraines (which causes even more vertigo). I think the issue in the hallway is the curve of the ceiling combined with the colors. It reminds me of walking down the hall on the cruise ship when the wind is blowing the ship to the side and I am having vertigo. I get that it looks unique. I bet they remove the curves at some point.
Definitely missed having a balcony
It's wild that all the rooms didn't come with a balcony. I had one balcony in a duo and it was the worst balcony view I have ever seen anywhere.
And I knew it was coming but the TOT aggravated me
I was super happy to pay it for my first couple stays because I actually love the tower and the rooms. It got really old after a while and I always waitlist for VGC now partly to save on the TOT. If I ever get my VGC points, VDH will likely become my SAP+ points. And that's with me, loving the rooms and the tower.
At VGC I don’t stress about their safety, but I was not able to settle at all until they got back to VDH.
I have to say, I was very creeped out walking back by myself, coming from The Grand at night. I entered through the far left gate (closest to Pixar Hotel) and for some reason, it was just very quiet and felt unsafe coming in that way.

With all that said, I think if VGC didn't exist, VDH would be so much more amazing. I think its biggest downfall is that it is constantly compared to VGC. I've seen videos of what Pixar looks like now (I walk past it, but haven't been inside in over a decade) and I think if they added a tower to that with the same theme, I might be tempted to buy it and end up having all the same complaints about VDH.

This is so interesting! I didn’t even notice curves! I just felt unsteady and kept telling my husband I felt like I was on a spaceship 😆

I definitely wouldn’t want to walk back that way by myself at night. I’m certain I’d look insane speed walking/running and ready to fight for my life if necessary 😵

It's the princess themeing in the room that gets me. I love the paintings over the Murphy bed and such, but the big Tiana in pictures at least, seems kind of cheesy/childish to me.

Same for sleeping beauty i don't think I saw a big picture of her (i could be wrong) but if they do i wont like that either.

I do love the look of the jungle book room, but it's a duo studio so it will never work for us.
I loathe the giant portrait of Tiana. Some artwork of the bayou would have been a better choice I think! The studios do not have any giant portraits of the princesses, just the cute little touches of sketches and such :) Idk what the thought process was for the 1 bedrooms lol

I agree! I love all the other Tiana elements but I can't get over that huge portrait lollll and I'm staying in the one bedroom so I'm pretty sure I'm going to see her 🤣🤣 It just seems to me like that should be in a kids room idk
