Experiences with DME vs RAC

On my last trip down, I used DME for the first time. I was not thrilled with the baggage service. The wait for the bus was fine and the trip was good but it took way too long to get my bags. (One came after 4 hours, the second after 5 hours)

I was so put of by it that decided not to do RAC on the way home for fear of the bags misssing the flight. I have since found out, that its a different company and service moving the bags.

I am interested in people experinces. I have seen both positive and negative posts on DME but not a lot on RAC.

What has been experince with the two services, be it good or bad? Is there anyone who used RAC and then got home w/o their bags?

We've used RAC 3-4 times and had no problems at all. In each case, we had a rental car, and it was such a convenience to have RAC take case of the luggage .. all for the price of a tip. Since they also print boarding passes, we just drop off the car and go to the gate. (And the one time we used ME from MCO to the resort, our bags were there within an hour of our arrival).

I have yet to read a report of an RAC bag missing a flight when it was clear that the issue was with RAC.

You do know that RAC and DME have NOTHING to do with each other, right? You don't have to use one to use the other.

Sometimes luggage is delayed by the airline. The bag shows up on a later flight. Value resorts delivery luggage on a schedule. It takes longer to get DME luggage.

A couple of posters had issues with RAC. RAC held the bag too long at WDW and it missed the flight. Airline sent the bag to their home. Not a big deal.
