I currently have a DVC reservation for a studio at SSR next month. I have another timeshare that I set up an ongoing search through RCI for a 1 bedroom at SSR and it just came through. I'm still within 30 days (just barely) to cancel my DVC reservation. The problem is the RCI reservation begins on Sunday and we don't actually arrive until Monday right around check in time. We would be an entire day late. If I call and let them know, will they hold the room for 24 hours? I really prefer a 1 BR and could save my DVC points, but don't want to take a chance of losing the RCI booked room if they give it away because we are late. I know Disney will hold a reservation if you call in to say you're going to be late but this would be an entire 24 hrs. or even slightly more. Have any of you had experience with this?

They'll hold it. Just call SSR and explain you have a family commitment for the first day. Make sure you call MS and get your Disney reservation number. Be prepared to sit on hold for a long time while they try and find the RCI reservation. Also, don't forget you'll need to pay $190 Resort fee when you check in. Once you have your reservation number call SSR and speak with the cast member who does room assisnments. Don't bother to do this until a week before your RCI reservation date. This is the number of SSR (407) 827-1100.

Take a careful look at your exchange. Make sure your maintenance fees, your RCI exchange fees, any RCI insurance you may take out for the week, AND the arbitrary fee ($190 fee) that goes to Disney, are worth it. They could add up to more $1500.

Make sure you think that- 6 days-in a one bedroom- at SSR-- is worth it. I would NOT be worth it to me!
