Experience with late summer YC Ap rates and being overcharged

I just wanted to give a heads up on what happened with my recent booking. I am going to the YC for 9 days end of this month. I booked using the late summer AP code. Next day I was thinking the total didn't seem correct. I checked my ressie, and sure enough the last 3 days were rack rate. I went to the website and searched for those dates only. My search found that the GP discount was available for those dates, and obviously better than rack rate.

I called Disney, to change this. The first CM said so sorry, but I can't do anything for you. I went to the next CM, and they told me that absolutely I could book those days, but I could not remove them on my previous ressies, without losing my discount for the entire trip! At this point I am frustrated, I start thinking if this is the new policy, what happens if you need to cancel a few days from your trip in the future. will I always forfeit my discount and pay rack rate. After an hour on the phone, the rudest CM I have ever dealt with at Disney, finally allowed me to cancel the days, and book the remaining days with the general discount on a separate ressie. She told me several times that this is a one time thing and she was doing me a huge favor!! I wouldn't have complained, but the difference in the price, paid for 7 days of my meals on this trip. A significant difference in price.

Sorry so long, but in the future be sure to get the run down of every day you are booking, and make sure other discounts aren't actually better than what the Ap rate is.

Great advice and I'm glad you ended up getting the deal. :thumbsup2 I have had to split up ressies in the past as well to get the best deal. Some CM's are right on the ball and know exactly what to do and are more than happy to help. Then there are those other CM's....

Last Easter when I booked my trip, someone had posted that not all nights were discounted for their trip, so I made sure to click on the button that shows the rate for each night. Thankfully, the resorts I booked were indeed discounted each night. However, for my next trip (last month) I did notice some resorts had weekends at full price while other resorts still had some rooms available with the discount. So I understand how you feel and it's a good thing you went back and checked your nightly rate. You're definitely right about the savings, especially when rack rates are so sky high....30% off sky high rates does indeed equal a lot of meals!

Hmmm. I have often wondered about discount totals but they usually work out to between 20-25% during specials.

I just rebooked my Boardwalk Inn Deluxe Club Level reservation from a rack rate to an AP discount, using the My Disney Experience account on my desktop computer. While it was lower overall, when i looked at the individual dates, the first 3 nights were the original rack rate. In my experience if the discount rate was not available for all your nights, the system would tell you that there were no rooms available. So now, it looks like you will sort of be led to believe that you have the rate you wanted, but it may not be for all, or even most of the nights that you have. The real negative is that now I cannot keep looking online to see if the other nights are available at AP rate because my reservation shows that I HAVE the AP rate. I will have to call and listen to all of the prompts before speaking to a person.

So you had the same experience as me. In the past, the rate was either there or showed no availability, now you are booked believing you have the rate for all nights, and in reality you don't. I was just shocked, because this had never happened to me before. I hope you get the AP rate, or at least some sort of discount for the first 3 days.

I appreciate the posts about this. It sounds like we now need to verify the rate for each day of the reservation if we're hoping to use a discount.
