Experience with Ariel's Grotto & FP+?

I'm helping some friends plan their next trip. They've got a 4yr old little girl who absolutely loves princesses. She's currently booked for a meet & greet with Anna/Elsa and Rapunzel. She is also a huge fan of Ariel. I don't really want to use another FP on a princess meet & greet. Does anyone have experience with booking a 4th FP at the kiosks and finding much availability for Ariel's Grotto? Is it worth risking it and trying to get Ariel's Grotto after the first 3 FP's are used?

It's my understanding that Ariel's line doesn't get long right away. Perhaps you can have them visit Ariel at rope drop. Touring plans has me predicted for a 6 minute wait if I arrive there at 9:20 on a non-EMH day.

Have you also considered ETWB and meeting Merida (in Fantasyland) or Snow White (on Main St)?

Thank you!!! Maybe I'll suggest rope drop for Ariel's Grotto instead. That does change the current touring plan, but probably do-able. They're booked for ETWB on another day. I don't think the little girl knows Merida very well, but I'm not sure. They have a character meal booked at Akershus. I'm hoping Snow White will be there? Thanks for your help & suggestions!

The only character meet I have had luck getting as a 4th FP+ is Tink. We were unable to get Ariel. However, I think it will depend on when they are going. If it is in the summer I would say no chance of getting a FP+. In the fall I think there might be a chance.

If they're going to Akershus, Ariel is a regular there, as well as Snow White like you mentioned. Of course, Ariel is on her legs there, not sure how important it is to see her with her fins.

The regulars at Akershus are: Belle (as the greeter), Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel. There are sometimes back ups in case one princess isn't able to make it. I have heard of Jasmine, Mulan, and Mary Poppins serving as back ups. We ate there in fall 2012, Snow White was absent but Mary Poppins was there.
