Expedition Everest w/ Lights On

I am a chicken to ride this (my hubby has gone alone the last 2 trips!) seeing it with the lights helps some of the fears....I think I will do this when we go in December.......

Expedition Everest is mostly an outdoor ride, so the 'lights are on' until around 8:45 every day? LOL.

The only thing is they use a real Yeti, so sometimes the ride has to close down if he reached down and clawed a rider. Just look at the AKL rider board for this closing.

confused? do you think that lights are in in the video?

I'm confused about that too. The lights don't seem to be on in that video.

Also, it doesn't make it any less scary for me. I'm woozy just watching it. If anything, I'd be less likely to ride after watching the video.

I've seen quite a few EE videos and the backwards portion pretty much shows up just black. In this video, you can see the inside of the tunnel, the ground, the ride vehicle. That looks like lights on to me. Although I've never actually ridden it so maybe you CAN see the tunnel but all the other youtube videos just don't capture it...I dunno...but my bet is that it is SUPPOSED to be dark.

Anyhow, thanks DisneyMagic73! It looks a little less scary when you can actually see and get a better idea of what it's like. Someday maybe I'll be brave enough...

i would LOVE to see it with the lights on!! i went on it last december- screamed my head off. definately the biggest roller coaster i've ever done!!! (but i'll do it again!!)

it feels so weird going backward and in the dark- you can't tell what's going on!

I rode this ride last week and it was shut down for a few hours. But later in the afternoon they opened it back up and fourtunately during the time of our fastpasses. Normally you see the Yeti from a distance when your in the final cave, but it was pitch black and all you could hear was the roaring which creeps you out anyway. But to top it all off finally when your basically right under him it's like a little flicker of the light that shows the Yeti for less than a split second it seems. Ive rode the ride probably twenty times and I have never the seen the Yeti that evil looking.

I actually kinda prefer it being dark/backwards... the less you know whats going on, the less scary to me. I'm afraid of coasters. This is probably the worst coaster i've been on.

Friends want me to go to Cedar Point... theres NO WAY ha

Just got back and while it's not 'disney world', it is still a fun place to visit. Nothing like seeing your 7-year old sons face as you crest a 300' tall hill on Millenium Force, and re-think he choice to ride the coaster, lol.

Hi all,

Indeed the lights are on for the backwards portion of the ride. Having had the chance to ride that 5x last oct, i can tell you it is really pitch black for the backwards portion of the ride on video and in real time.

This looks to me like the guy turned his light on for his video camera and it is pretty bright.

You can clearly see the wall lights near the exit signs as it is going back. If it were a video camera light you would not be able to see these illuminated and most likely only the cars in front of him.

Those lights are on in the first tunnel at least.
