Where exactly does the standby line start and where exactly are the fast pass machines. I am trying to plan my early morning run ;) and the post about and hour wait 1st thing in the morning has me worried. Since I have not been in AK since Everest opened, I need some directions.

Well first off, the people who say there is a 1 hour wait first thing in the morning are incorrect, in my opinion. the ONLY time I ever do Everest is first thing in the morning and there's NEVER a line THAT long that early.

If you go for the opening, get to the park around 8:30 and you'll get to the ride right when the park opens. Immediately go up and get a fastpass. Fastpass will not start until around 30 mins to an hour after park opens. What I mean is, you get pick one up right away but the time won't be for another 30 mins to an hour, even if you get it early. They just start it that way.

After you get your FP, go to the line and ride.

If you are standing directly in front of the attraction, the FP booths are to the extreme left, and the standby line is to the left as well, just not as far. It's EASY to see.

The way the rope drop follows, you'll be led directly by the FP machines, which you'll get to before the standby line, so no worries there.

When you get in the standby OR FP lines, you'll have the opportunity when you get to the front, to jump in a separate front row rider line, which may only make you wait a couple minutes more (worth it in my opinion).

You also always have the single rider line you can get in, which will let you ride many times earlier in the day.

IF YOU GET THERE AT OPENING AND GET A FP, I think you could EASILY ride 2 times in standby and then your FP if you want, with minimal wait. I think maybe you'll encounter a 15-20 minute wait at the most, NOT an hour at that time of day.

I think maybe by 10:00 the line will be at an hour but, if you get there at opening, you'll be done with your rides by then.

civileng68, that was my plan originally. It is just all these posts about how this won't work that got me agitated. Thaks. You made me feel better.

Dont' sweat it. I've learned that people on the boards sometimes have a misconception of the time.

I'm curious if the people saying this are showing up at rope drop. I've been to AK rope drop about 30 times EACH SINCE EVEREST HAS BEEN OPEN (since that was my purpose in being there). NEVER EVER have I seen a 1 hour line before an hour after opening and that was even as it was more popular. Granted Everest is still a King in the AK, it's not as crazy in popularity as the first few months of opening.

IF YOU GET THERE 30 mins before park opening, and be at the rope drop (hey, they even have a cool opening show while you wait, with Minnie, Mickey, Pluto and Goofey) get there, get a FP, go to standby/Single Rider, you'll get at least 3 rides in the first hour.

For example: I went last summer and got a FP, rode standby, then single rider, then my FP and then back to single rider, I rode 7 times. Granted, I have to admit, single rider line is much much faster, the line before 10:00 will NOT be over an hour.

I was there at rope drop, and there was no rope walk, which was scary. I think there were cast member in asia to finish the walk though. You'll enter right next to the fast past machines. Single rider start about a half hour to an hour after opening. That early, people don't pay attention to it because the extended queus are being opened up inside, so it seems like a lot of people are going in fast, but they really aren't coming out that fast. so you can catch a second ride in single rider in no time at all.

That's what I tried to post on that other somewhat odd thread, but the OP has some notion about discovering a huge crowd at EE... creating an instant 55 minute wait-time... that somehow "magically appeared" in front of him, 10 minutes after rope-drop.

Anything is POSSIBLE at WDW... but, unless there was a special group of 1500 dignitaries allowed into the EE line ahead of the rope drop crowd, I can't see how this could happen.
Heck, it doesn't even happen at SOARIN' at Epcot, which is much MORE popular than EE.
And fully HALF of the rope drop crowd at DAK goes left to Safari first-thing.

The other info (too busy to ride EE in the morning) does not make sense.
