Expedition Everest compared to BTMR

EE is taller, faster, has a single "big drop" (in comparison to BTMRR), and the backwards portion is fairly intense for some people. It is a very smooth ride - I don't think it feels jerky at all, and the G-forces aren't overpowering even at their highest points, including during the backwards helix. Personally, I think it's a fun and mildly thrilling ride that most people without existing motion sickness problems can enjoy. I'd say give it a shot, and if you hate it, don't go again. :thumbsup2 If you ever visit Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, ride El Toro and Nitro, and you might rethink your judging system afterwards. Both have lap restraints, neither is particularly tame (although El Toro is the crazier of the two, IMO) - there are also launched and looping coasters at other parks with just lap restraints. OTSRs are falling out of favor when not absolutely necessary, because coaster enthusiasts don't like them and they scare 'general audiences.' :thumbsup2
I have to agree nitro it's pretty nuts!!! And I haven't even gone on El Toro yet because I've been chicken... I think over the shoulder restraints are safer feeling!

It's really different. I don't consider any of the hills in EE to be a problem. Hills are actually my favorite part of coasters because I love the "stomach drop" feeling- I barely get it on EE. BUT there are two parts they get me-- the rapid climb right AFTER the mini hill, and the backwards helix in the dark, which is a VERY strange, unsettling feeling (many swear they've gone upside down). I'm a coaster enthusiast, and I've never felt anything like it on a coaster (and when you love coasters that's actually quite cool). Now I said I liked coasters, but I DO get seriously motion sick-- I've got to load up on Bonine to ride the rides I love. And I can't ride EE more than four times in a row even with the Bonine. But it really is a great ride and I think you could try it once. What's the worst that could happen? You hate it and you never ride it again! Take a Bonine that morning if you're afraid of getting sick. Let us know what happens!!!

I'm in my 50's and love riding EE. I can't wait for my trip in December so I can ride it again - multiple times! I've ridden all the coasters that WDW offers with the exception of Rockin' Roller Coaster - and that is just a personal preference due to the music. The backwards riding was actually one of my favorite parts of the ride :)

It's a great ride! Nobody can say how others will react but I think you owe it to yourself to at least ride it once and make up your own mind. Keep in mind that Disney's "thing" isn't extreme coasters

If you ride and don't like it you don't have to go back, but if you don't ride you may be missing your new favorite ride and not even know it!

Other posters have given you the details. I will just give you my feelings.

I hate most roller coasters, but had always told my kids I would ride anything they wanted with them ONCE. I was safe for years, as they were both as chicken as I was. Our thrills topped out at Splash and BTMRR. Those were happy times. The boy never got bit by the thrill ride bug, but at 13 the girl decided she wanted more. Two fastpasses later (no DS or DH) she and I were on EE.

A PP said something about it not killing you? I thought I was going to die...or at least wished I was.

Never. Again.

Ever.

We completely avoided AK on our last trip. We'll go on our upcoming one, but she'll be riding alone while I shop or people watch or maybe have an adult beverage. I will happily ride all the MK mountains. I may even try RnR. But I will never get close to EE again.

That said, some folks obviously love it. You won't know if you're one of them until you try.
