Expedition Everest Challenge May 5 @ 9:30 2012

Draggin Wagon HAHA - that's funny :thumbsup2 Glad your doing good with your pacing :)

I did a Mile last night and got it done in 12 min 2 sec and that was WITH a .5 incline on the treadmill so I will continue to work on getting a bit of incline and keeping my times ok. I know I could NOT keep up that pace the whole time though but hopefully in the next month and a half it'll get a bit easier. Hopefully I'll even be able to get the incline up another .5 so i'm ready for the real world of outside running :scared1:

How is everyone else doing with their training???

Weird, I can still get to the registration page on active.com, but it has a slot for password that I can't figure out. Really wanted to register :(

I ran with my new runners and it was GREAT!!! I didn't get the sore spot by my big toe like I usually get and i had absolutely NO aches the next day even though i went more than 3 days between runs (that usually means some stiffness for me). So I'm totally happy with my Asics!!!
Yay!!! :woohoo:

According to my Nike + GPS app, my average pace today was 15 minutes and 59 seconds per mile!! I'm in the pacing limit, and I'm only in week two of the C25K!! This is so reassuring for me, since I was worried in the beginning about the pacing limit and getting picked up by the "Draggin' Wagon."
:cheer2: And you've still got lots of time to go - you'll have no problem at all staying ahead of the sweepers!

:worship: Great pace! It's funny - I can run hills (okay, I live in FL, so the term "hill" is relative - maybe "ground swells" would be more accurate), outside (and, in fact, much prefer to run them rather than walk them), but an incline on the TM just about kills me. Why on earth is that?! :confused3:rotfl:

Not bad - after Sunday's 5K, I walked and did my PT exercises Mon., walk/ran 45/30sec intervals for 2.5 miles Tues., and did PT and upper body yesterday. Tuesday's run was hard on my knee - it was protesting loudly by the halfway mark. But I also discovered I was averaging a 12:19 mile pace... WAY too fast for a bum knee! It honestly didn't feel that fast; I think it just felt so good to be running again, I wasn't reining it in. Lesson learned.

My DS hasn't run at all, save for whatever they do in PE at school, since the Tangled 5K. We'll both be going for a run tonight, rest tomorrow, and a 3-miler Sat. Running with him will force me to keep my pace down, which is good at this point. :thumbsup2

Ya, I'm really not sure but I'm holding on to that little piece of information and REALLY REALLY hoping it's the same way for me! :thumbsup2

I did 3.1 miles in 49:10 tonight at incline of 1. Record for me I think and confidence booster because I was taking it easy for the last couple weeks because of shin splints. My legs feel good - I've been doing stretches for them.

Everyone is doing so well with their training.
Y'all have me worried about the straggler dragger now though....
I did the Family Fiesta 5K in 58 minutes...better then the Kaiser which I did in 72 minutes....

Good for you!!! a 1 incline will really add to the difficulty - i have only added .5 incilne for a distance of 1K and found it alot!!! lol. So doing 1 for the whole 5k is a great achievement :thumbsup2

HAHAHAHA! First the "Draggin Wagon" and now the "Straggler Dragger" You guys are funny

SOOO we are getting such UNSEASONABLE weather this year that I think I might actually venture out and try an outdoor run today  It will be interesting to see how it goes. I had wanted to get a run in today before noon but i know if I'm going outside that i REALLY need to wait until the air is warm enough so I'll wait til after lunch and go when it's warm.

WISH ME LUCK!!! I hope it goes MUCH better than my last outdoor run!

"straggler dragger" :rotfl: Lots of time still to keep whittling it down! :cheer2:

Good luck! And I'm :rotfl2: ... because our unseasonably hot weather is making me consider staying INSIDE!

 wow, your bad thing is my good thing. Well thanks for sacrificing for me.
Hey - I've been popping onto your blog a smidgen here and there and now you've got me wondering. What are compression sleeves for exactly??? :confused3

Hee hee, you're welcome! ;)

My understanding is that compression sleeves (or socks) increase circulation, which aids in recovery and helps prevent cramping and shin splints. I've never really had a problem with cramping or shin splints (yet), but my knee and ankle problems are connected to soreness in my calves. It does seem to help! Plus, they just plain feel good. :cloud9: Thanks for reading my blog - I always wonder if anyone even sees it, lol!

My treadmill only has increments of 1 for incline. So I had no choice but to go to 1. :rotfl:

I'm scared of your unseasonably hot weather the night of the race!!! :scared:

I agree with this!!! Maybe it IS a good thing it doesn't START til 9:30 this year :thumbsup2

It shouldn't be too bad after dark! 70s is my guess. Right now, we've been hitting high-80s during the day, but 60s at night. The sun is the killer. We went for a run around 7 last night and it was really nice out!

Yeah, see it's not even 70s inside when I'm running on my treadmill - and it's way colder when I run outside (even with our unseasonably warm weather). Maybe I should be cranking up the propane fireplace when I run on the treadmill. :rotfl2:

LOL! I bought a big fan to put in front of my treadmill the other day - it's 76 with the AC on in my house! :lmao:

LOL! I have a pathetic fan on my treadmill that I usually turn on but last night I didn't. And I ran with long yoga pants on and didn't drink much water. All part of the training! I have thought about digging out a bigger fan, but have resisted!

Ordered some iron-ons this week for our race shirts. I couldn't find/think of anything too creative so I just went with a Mickey head with a cheetah print since we'll be at Animal Kingdom...with matching sparkle skirt and "Sponsored by DAD!" for the back of the shirt...as a suprise to my dad since he sprung for the team entry fee for us :) What a guy! My 11yo teammate is super excited for her first race too...I bought her a pair of running shoes for her b-day last week and she's already been "practicing" in them. Hopefully she follows my advice and "practices" regularly, or this is going to be interesting!

Oh MY GOSH!!! THAT WAS AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (my outside run in case your wondering) :scared::scared:

The temp was 13C which is about 55F and i thought for SURE i could do it but my lungs were bothering me AGAIN!!!! And i had a bit of a coughing fit about 20 minutes after my run :sad1: I'm still having to clear my throat now and cough occasionally and I finished my run an hour ago.

When I'm on the treadmill I can run through 3 songs without having to stop (I've even ran as long as 20 minutes at one point) but outside I can't run longer than one song?!?!? and by the end I can't even run the length of a song.

I cut the run short b/c I knew there was NO way I'd finish the 5K today and I was so dissapointed and thought for sure I would be lucky if I even hit the 2K mark so one good note is that when I mapped my run I was happy to see that I at least made it 3.1Km (1.92m) and my time was 26 minutes so it wasnt ALL that aweful after all BUT It felt like DEATH when my lungs were burning like that!!!

I really need to make a dr apt and tell her how this running is affecting my lungs. I wonder if a puffer would help me out at all? I used to have to use a puffer to get over colds b/c without it they would linger for months so I wonder if this would help to reduce the burning in my lungs.
