Having spent the whole weekend at WDW - I heard a lot of talk about this pin. My thought is this.....they made 2000....if you didn't get one, what is the big hairy deal?

If you wanted to camp out Wednesday night and be first in there on Thursday...we all had that right and opportunity....I heard way to many people whine and complain and be utterly rude to CM's at guest services about these pins. I have seen posts where people think they should have made 5000....then what makes it SO SPECIAL?

I am not sure what all of the hype is about either. Our best friends went down to WDW just for the weekend because of Expedition Everest. They asked us to go with them, but I could not see spending almost $2,000 just for the weekend.

It was great - I loved it and am glad we went. We did get the free pin and lanyard but they also had a LE pin available to buy for passholder's which sold out on the first day. My beef is with all those throwing fits about it.

How was the ride?

Well there is no less then 50 EE pins on e-bay already.

see - so those who weren't able to purchase can still get one!! :)

I just felt extremely sorry for the cast members in AK's guest relations that day. The way those people were acting was horrid and I wouldn't even speak to my enemy's dog the way they were speaking.

It never ceases to amaze me how ugly people will be over things so trivial. It seems most people these days have a "sense of entitlement." Very sad. I do feel bad for those CMs as well.

:confused3 I'm not sure what the problem with pins is. We spent the day there yesterday and both my boys received pins. There were pins everywhere. They were giving them to all riders. Am I missing something? Were there other pins? The kids were happy with the ones they got, so I'm happy too.

LOVED the ride!!!! :thumbsup2

There were four different pins. The free Lanyard and Pin that they are giving to everyone. The blue postcard style pin that is for sale in the gift shop to anyone and then there were LE Opening Day 2006 pins for AP holders and for DVC members. We were there on Thursday and after the ride you had to show your AP again to get a ticket that entitled you to buy one of the LE pins. My husband and I are both AP holders so we bought two pins one with each pass. I am keeping one and I have already entered into a trade with a person from the U.K. for a Figment event pin. Anyone who collects pins know that the LE pins usually sell out on there first day of release.

Yeah - we actually got 4 of the 2006 EE sneak preview pins/lanyards....I was refering to the LE pins that had to be purchased.

go and look on ebay that's why people are so crazy about them, they are only looking to make money on them, and the people that buy them in my opinion are crazy, its just a pin(kind of like the beanie babies) no one will care in 5 years. JMO

I bought one of the AP limited edition pins on Thursday. It's very cute, with Mickey looked scared at the Yeti, and Goofy happily waving at him! But I also don't see what the big deal is. I wore it on my lanyard for the last three days at the parks, and only one person noticed it. But I bought it since I like it, so that is what matters. :)

There's certainly no excuse for anyone being rude about the pins, but Disney is partly to blame for the situation by intentionally manufacturing so few pins that it creates a market frenzy. Disney advertises the pins as being exclusively for passholders, but in reality the small run of 2,000 pins guarantees that most passholders have absolutely no chance of getting one. Thus Disney is ensuring the desirability of the pin simply by not making very many of them. If Disney advertises something as being for passholders, then they should make enough that people have a reasonable chance of getting one without having to camp out in the parking lot. Most passholder releases (Food & Wine Festival, Flower & Garden Festival, etc.) are 5,000 pins, a far more equitable number. I know, it's just a pin but . . .

Just think back to how people acted during the beanie baby craze...

but why is a higher number more equitable? So you have a better chance to buy one? The fewer number in the LE the more "valuable" it will be. That is what I was also reading in other posts yesterday about WDW not being fair because they didn't make "enough", etc...so I guess WDW should have made 1 per AP that is active then everyone would be happy...

nah....WDW will never make anyone happy!

Wow. I was just happy to get my lanyard and preview pin. Sorry people were aggravating the CMs so much. Its not their fault more weren't made. I applaud the folks at E:E this weekend. It was a madhouse and from what I experienced, they handled it well.

My only frustration with LE pins are those at Star Wars Weekends, not because I must have one, but because you can't get into Tattoine Traders due to the lines. Even if you go on Star Tours and enter the store that way, you have to wait 45 mins to check out. Still no reason to be rude, but I do wish they would come up with a system so that those NOT interested in getting the pins are not inconvenienced - those that are can wait in the appropriate line someplace else

This is funny since on Saturday morning I wound up buying BOTH the AP and DVC pins. I had been chatting with some nice folks and they came up to me and told me there were VERY VERY few left.. So I ran in and bought them. I would NEVER have stood in line (and I didn't, I was the next person at the counter!)

Personally I know avoid ALL the professional pin traders. (You know the ones at DTD with the rolling carts of pins.) The way the majority of them act and treat others is about the most UN Disney behavior I have seen... Let's see kid has an AP EE on his lanyard, I'll con him into trading for something cheap and then I'll sell his pin on EBAY. If I give a kid a good pin I warn the parents now. And I give away a LOT of pins!!!)
