Expedition Everest and the limited edition pin.....

I would NEVER have stood in line (and I didn't, I was the next person at the counter!)

Personally I know avoid ALL the professional pin traders. (You know the ones at DTD with the rolling carts of pins.) The way the majority of them act and treat others is about the most UN Disney behavior I have seen... Let's see kid has an AP EE on his lanyard, I'll con him into trading for something cheap and then I'll sell his pin on EBAY. If I give a kid a good pin I warn the parents now. And I give away a LOT of pins!!!)
ITA with your attiutude - we buy or trade for pins we like, not to resell, I would expect a lightinig strike if it took advantage of any child in trading pins (actually I have never traded with a child, just CMs - we're not real serious). And we also give many away after my daughter outgrows them. We bring a few to trade, but will give away also. My DD9 will give away some of the princess pins she has outgrown if she befriends a younger girl waiting in line, watching the parade, etc.

Carol - where on Saturday did you buy an AP special pin? we, along with others in my party were told they were sold out. This was on Friday. We went to several registers and at different times - I guess I was always hoping for a different answer.

I didn't get there until Saturday. They were sold out, better luck next time for me. :confused3 With only 2000 being available I really thought my chances were slim anyways. I saw a ton of them on Ebay and the prices were really high. I don't know why anyone would get angry with a CM over this. It is not there fault.

By the Way the RIDE IS AWESOME!! :thumbsup2

but why is a higher number more equitable? So you have a better chance to buy one? The fewer number in the LE the more "valuable" it will be. That is what I was also reading in other posts yesterday about WDW not being fair because they didn't make "enough", etc...so I guess WDW should have made 1 per AP that is active then everyone would be happy...

nah....WDW will never make anyone happy!
A higher number is more equitable if, like me, you don't care a thing about the value of the pin. I collect only passholder pins, and what they're worth or what I can trade them for is really immaterial to me. I like them simply because I'm a passholder and they're a pleasant way to remember the fun times I've had at the parks.

I got them just after opening at the window in the BACK of the EE gift shop. Rumor I heard was that they found 22 AP pins and 60 DVC pins so they didn't last long.

I talked to someone later who went apparently just a few minutes after me and all he could get were the DVC pins...

We were there on Thursday and after we rode EE, we found the line for the LE pins and waited maybe 10 minutes to purchase ours. I overheard one person say they were looking to buy a couple AP pins and maybe trade for the DVC pins. My DH & I just bought one pin each. We were going to give one to my DD who didn't go with us. I wanted to get her a lanyard and pin, but since her AP wasn't activated at the turnstyles, I couldn't get her one. DH said she could have his.

We collect and occasionally trade pins, but not like we used to. We purchase just ones that we like. DD collects the Tinkerbell pins, DH & I like PoC, HM & ToT pins. DH also likes the RnRC pins. Anymore we buy only one that strike our fancy.

But I am with CarolA, when we were really into trading I avoided the professional pin traders. I would look at their collections, but knew what they really wanted.

On this last trip, a woman had bought her daughter a pin starter lanyard. The CM traded with her and explained that if they already have a pin on their lanyard, they can't accept a duplicate. I had some traders with me, so I gave her one to either keep or trade with someone else later. I just told them it was one to get her started. :tink:

When they told me that the passholder pins were sold out on Friday, I was not rude to the castmembers. I just said "Oh, ok" and sounded kind of disappointed. I would never be like what some of the people are saying. My problem with it was, it sounded like they went so quickly that the pin sellers had to be asking all their friends and family to buy 2 each, just so they could sell them on Ebay- essentially scalping them. And I do have a problem with that, if that's the case. If it isn't the case, then fine, maybe Disney should think about making a few more of them for future events so that people who can't take that particular day off of work to go get one have a chance at getting one. And not from a professional seller for double the price. But I know it's not the castmember's fault behind the register. Maybe to be more fair, if they want to make only 2000 of them, release 500 each day? I know, that would probably generate more complaints, but just offering suggestions.

I didn't think you could buy more then one... I was there with my husband on Thursday (we had scheduled to be there the whole week 4 months earlier), and you had to get a fast pass-like card to get the free lanyard/free pin, and a white skew tag (sp?) with either an "P" or a "D" depended on what you had (annual pass or DVC) to buy the limited edition. While I know there was some trading going on, I never saw people buying tons of those pins.

There where VERY long lines to buy the pins, and they probably just ran out due the large crowds that where there. I know a friend on mine on Friday also bought an AP pin.

I know there was some insanity on Thursday morning as I was part of it :) but I think Disney did a very good job in handling what could have been a very volatile experience.

these people complaining on 1/27/05 were at GUEST SERVICES, not even at the store. They went out of their way to go and tell someone about it. Expressing your thoughts are one thing but totally being nasty is another. My DH was ready to take one guy out - he couldn't stand how rude and mouthy he was being not only to the CM but in front of us!
