and I really want to tighten up my tummy muscles. The problem is that most ab exercises hurt my incision. I know that I need to take it slow but I want to start tightening these muscles back up. I am finding that I have a lot of back pain because of these loose muscles. Any suggestions for ab exercises that won't cause me pain?

Does it hurt when you just contract the muscles as if you are gonna sit up but don't really?? That may help get you by until the pain is gone. :)

I haven't had a c-section I don't know what its like though. Just take it easy until it doesn't hurt.

This will sound silly--but my tummy always felt weird after babies and i didn't have a c-section.

There is a website you can check out that has some (very weird) abdominal exercises...but my goodness do they work. It might take some getting used to, but the results are great. Now I didn't keep it up long enough to have a 6-pack tummy or anything, but my tummy feels very similar to pre-baby time.

Obviously if they feel "painful", then you shouldn't do them...but if the are just merely uncomfortable, then you might be okay.
