Went to get J.C.'s hair cut and highlighted and there was a guy in the that used to like me. He was always a real cutie and asked me out a zillion times after John and I started dating....even after we got married. Of course I always laughed it off.

Well he is now dating the girl who owns the beauty shop (she also went to school with us) and he was having his hair highlighted as well and he was sitting under the dryers with John-Cole. I'm talking to the girl in another part of the shop.

So we get in the car and J.C. says "He told me he used to be in love with you." I said " I know." J.C. says "He said he would still go out with you any time you would go out with him."

Can you believe that! I've been married for almost 13 years...LOL! I've been with John forever! He is my soul mate but it made me feel good anyway...although I don't think he needed to say that to John-Cole....who will tell John who will laugh but will tease me about it.

That's pretty funny.:D I guess he'll always hold the torch for you.;)

I bet he's not THAT honest with the girlfriend who owns the beauty shop!

I agree!! LOL! I bet she wouldn't have taken to kindly to it at all.

LOLOLOL!!!!!!

My first boyfriend from when Iwas 15 years old called me a coupleof days before his wedding when I was about 22 and said "If you tell me not to marry her because I'd have a chance with you, I won't". I hated that, because I felt like he wasn't being honest with his wife-to-be, who was very nice. All I could think is that I'd hate to find out after I was married that mu husband had said that to someone right before we got married.

DD - EXACTLY!! I knew he liked me in high school and even afterwards when we both were working at the same place during college....but NOW! He has always been a huge flirt anyway though....and for that matter so is his girlfriend so maybe it wouldn't have bothered her as long as he said it in a joking manner. I have no idea how he said it to J.C.

You have your son's hair highlighted?

Yep its the new thing to do for the pre-teen boys around here. Its not drastic highlighting just a little on top. Last year it was putting blue dye in it, the year before that it was shaving it (Its something to do with All Stars in Baseball...they always do their hair weird) I actually like the highlights in the top of it (much better than the blue dye anyway!)

My 12 y.o. was born with platinum hair. As he is getting older, it's getting darker, very much like mine did at his age.

I highlight his hair as well....but only when he asks me to. Lots of the boys in that age group have the upper half of their hair really blonde, and the lower half is whatever their natural color is.

I do the same thing to him, but I use Herbal Essence, and I must say, I do a damned good job!

How bizarre. I can't imagine sharing information like that with a child. Does he expect John Cole to set you up with him or something?

Oh...and we've been the "blue route" too! Only it was that wash out "hair glue." Thankfully, that phase didn't last too long!

Oh by all means then, better get it done.

Exactly! I don't want him to feel left out. Its the whole ball team that does this. They have been together forever and its really cute. The blue was funny and it washed right out. I won't be ashamed that my son is popular in his group of friends. When I was that age "big" hair was in style....I had "big" hair too. Its just a sign of the times. But I have always been one to follow the trends instead of go against them (had a friend who was Gothic)....thats just not me. Oh and while we are questioning what I do.....I also gave him a cell phone. Is he too young? Probably. Do I spoil him? Yes I do. He is the only child I have and the only one I will ever have. His grades are wonderful! He is very social and outgoing and loves sports. If wanting highlights is the worse thing he wants done in the years to come then I will be a very happy person!

Kathy,

His looks so cute!! I would never try to do it myself, it would turn orange...LOL (he would probably like that too..hee hee).

I wish I could have heard the way and tone he said it. Of course I didn't hear it until we had left when J.C. told me. I think he was probably messing around with J.C. He has known John as long as he has known me and he knows John and I are definatly NOT a couple that will be broken up. But hes always been a flirt.

I'll probably not see him again for 10 more years...LOL!

Hey my 8 cats go where I go REGARDLESS!! :p

There was this guy, Craig. Craig was good friends with the guy I was seeing (we were 13, I think). Well, Craig and I became such good friends. So close, we would spend 3 hours a night chatting. I loved him to death. Like a brother to me. I always knew he had a crush on me, and I decided I would try dating him once. Well, the first day, I went to his house, and I kissed him (we were 16 by this time), and it was LIKE KISSING MY BROTHER. I knew I had made him so happy that I went out with him, but I had to break his heart that night. I just couldn't fake it, you know? Well, the years go on, and when we are 19, he gets his girlfriend pregnant, and he proposes. So, september 27, 1997, they get married. I go outside with him to have a cigarette (RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HALL WHERE THE RECEPTION IS, MIND YOU), and he proceeds to kiss me. Then tells me that he told Liz (his bride) that I am always going to be his true love. He may be married to her, but will always be in love with me. All the while, there are people around who are their celebrating his marriage.

Fast forward 1 month. We are all going to a Halloween party. I went to his apartment to pick up my costume. Liz was at work. He proceeds to kiss me like crazy. I mean, incredible. Then tells me that Liz said it is ok, as long as he doesn't leave her. Needless to say, I have not seen him since that Halloween party. They moved away a couple months later after their daughter was born. It makes me sad thinking back, but it was kind of a trip. What did I do, to make this guy love me so much? And why didn't I feel it in return?

Well, I ran into a friend of his last year, and gave him my number. Craig called me a month later. Still loves me. Still is married, but things are rocky. 2nd kid. I don't know. I ended up with the best man - another friend of Craig's :)

PS - Sorry this is long and rambling. I am on some new drugs - legal - and they make you REALLLLLLLY spacy and REALLLLLLLLLLy talkative!!

Maybe highlights in pre-teens' hair is a bit too liberal for the prevailing conservative attitudes in DC these days, but here in ol' IOWA, we are highlighting too, Beauty . . . ;)
